Indianapolis Motor Speedway is one of the most historical venues in racing and this weekend the XFINITY Series will take on the Road Course at The Brickyard. With qualifying in the books it’s easier to gauge who we should target as the drivers will spin 62 lap on the 2.44-mile road course. Austin Cindric won this race last year from the second-starting position leading a race-high 29 laps in the effort, in fact the top three qualified drivers led all but three laps in the race. Time will tell if such a trend will continue this year.
Most comparable tracks: Watkins Glen, Sonoma Raceway, Charlotte ROVAL, Daytona ROVAL

With a stacked field in this race full of a mix of road course veterans and Cup regulars, Allmendinger, who qualified on the pole in this race last year has done so again after a fast lap of 97.8 miles per hour and a great showing in practice on Friday. Rostering a driver on the pole in a race that doesn’t have a ton of dominator points available could be risky but with Dinger being so good here I wouldn’t be surprised if he leads a bulk of the laps here.
Briscoe finds himself in the 07 car this weekend running his first XFINITY race of the season. The 07 car has seen plenty of action this season most notably with Cole Custer behind the wheel on four occasions. In those races Custer has a win, two top-fives, three top-10’s and 86 laps led. Briscoe won nine races in his last season as a full-time XFINITY driver, including this race at what is his home track as he led 30 laps in the effort. He’ll be a dominator contender.
Despite not being a great road course racer historically, Jones has 18th, 11th, and 5th-place finishes on road courses this season. There are simply too many place differential points available for a good driver like Jones in great equipment. He should be very chalky.
Gibbs, like Allmendinger, is a contender to dominate the majority of this race and is worth considering as a pivot off of Dinger. Gibbs has a road course win this season, a seventh-place finish at Portland, and won two road-course races last season.
