The Slapshot – Feb 2nd

The Sabres/Islanders game tonight has been PPD due to COVID-19.

TOP STACKS

Calgary vs Winnipeg

Elias Lindholm – Matthew Tkachuk – Rasmus Anderson (CGY) – Nikolaj Ehlers (WPG)

This is a nice spot to consider a game stack.  They went to a shootout last night and will meet up again today with both penalty kill units struggling quite a bit.  Look for the Lindholm/Tkachuk combination to finally get going tonight if the PP does pay off and RW have been the most beneficial plays vs Calgary so far this year, so I’ll ride with Ehlers at a good value on the top line with Scheifele.

Carolina Hurricanes

Sebastian Aho – Andrei Svechnikov – Dougie Hamilton

Another power play who should get right is Carolina’s top unit.  Both Sebastian Aho and Dougie Hamilton are in prime spots to have big games today against a really poor Blackhawks defense.

Edmonton Oilers

Leon Draisaitl – James Neal – Tyson Barrie

With the NHL schedule having lots of B2B match-ups this season we were bound to have a situation where a dominant offense went off in the first game and now will be impossible to fade as they say in the second game.  Welcome to Edmonton, who obviously has two of the best (if not the best) fantasy options in Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl every single night out.  How does Draisaitl follow up his 6 assist outing?  How about with a multi-goal game after not even shooting the puck on Sunday night.  With the value of Barrie and James Neal this can make for your Edmonton PP1 stack without killing the lineup.

Under the radar stack

Vancouver Canucks

Elias Pettersson – JT Miller – Brock Boeser – Quinn Hughes

ONE OFF SKATERS

Connor McDavid & Leon Draisaitl (Edmonton)

What an epic beatdown on Sunday night by these two and not having one of them in your lineup is very contrarian considering many will try to jam both into lineups today.  No serious details here other than they’re dominant plays once again.

JT Compher (Colorado)

Nathan MacKinnon is going to be out for a few weeks and J.T. Compher is sliding into his top line spot for only $2,800 on DraftKings.  Getting to skate with Landeskog and Rantanen is certainly a major boost and also drawing PP1 exposure for sub 3k is really hard to pass up tonight.

Other top Centers:  Ryan Getzlaf (Value), Brayden Schenn, Sebastian Aho, Nazem Kadri

Brock Boesser (Vancouver)

Probably my favorite under the radar play today is going to be Vancouver tonight as all their games with the Canadiens have been high scoring and they got wiped out last night by Montreal but have talent to bounce back today.  Boesser was really playing strong before only drawing 16 minutes of ice time on Monday night, so with him likely going back to 18-20 if Vancouver can stay out of the penalty box then he should produce a strong game once again (had back to back 2 goal games before Monday).

Nikolaj Ehlers (Winnipeg)

After starting the year white hot with 5 goals and 6 assists, Ehlers has gone pointless in his last two games but still has registered 11 SOG.  This is a great spot to buy back into Ehlers as he should have favorable opportunities again tonight.

Other Top Wingers:  Brock Boesser, Matthew Tkachuk, Andrei Svechnikov, Brendan Gallagher

Value Wingers:  Jesse Puljujarvi, Brandon Saad, Nino Niederreiter, Jaden Schwartz

Shea Weber (Montreal)

Teams who allow lots of shots on goal generally are going to be consistent targets for D-Men that contribute both in 5v5 metrics and on the power play.  Last night Jeff Petry went off for Montreal, so a good buy low spot is on Shea Weber who has just 2 SOG in his last 3 games total.  I expect Weber to jump back into the action today on offense and to put one in the net.

Other top D:  Dougie Hamilton, Cale Maker, Tyson Barrie/Darnell Nurse, Drew Doughty

GOALIES

Joonas Korpisalo (Columbus) – Verify he is starting but at $7,500 vs a Dallas team not scoring much he is a nice mid range Goalie play today.

Jordan Binnington (St. Louis)

SLAP … SHOTS

LINE LOCK OF THE NIGHT:      Sebastian Aho – Andrei Svechnikov – Dougie Hamilton (Carolina PP1)

ONE OFF STUD:      Leon Draisaitl (Edmonton)

CONTRARIAN ONE OFF:     Brock Boesser (Canucks)

ONE OFF VALUE WINGER:     Jesse Puljujarvi (Oilers)

TOP DEFENSE-MAN:     Dougie Hamilton (Carolina)

GPP FADE TEAM OF THE NIGHT:    None, chalk is good today.

FAVORITE BETS:

  • Flames/Jets O6
  • Hurricanes/Blackhawks O5.5
