One of the really strong points for NHL DFS has always been the forced days off due to the schedule. We had that this week with a couple lighter slates, but the down side then is the large Tue/Thu slates we wind up with instead of a nice consistent 5-7 game stretch. Fortunately there are two COVID-19 postponements today which helps lighten the load as we are down to just nine games instead of the planned 11. The two games which have been called off are Pittsburgh/NJ Devils and Buffalo/NY Islanders.
TOP STACKS
Toronto Maple Leafs
John Tavares – Wayne Simmonds – William Nylanders
Toronto is next up against the Canucks who are showing zero signs of suddenly becoming a defensive oriented team. Centers, Wings, Defenseman, Zamboni Drivers, Chicks flashing the Stanley Cup Champions, the janitor, you name it, they’re producing against the Canucks this season. Shit. I’d even venture to guess that Dale Hawerchuk could score against these guys — and he’s dead! Wayne Simmonds, who many might have assumed was dead too has been resurrected this year in Toronto and is only $2.5k tonight on the 2nd line.
- The Vancouver side here is very good too. Boeser’s price remains very affordable and this is a nice paced game for them to get involved in productively.
Florida Panthers PP1
Aleksander Barkov – Patrik Hornqvist – Jonathan Huberdeau – Aaron Ekblad
Might have to start calling this the alphabet soup stack, I mean seriously, can we buy a vowel? Oh, better yet. The Vanna White line… Can I buy a power play goal here? Asheville is giving up around 1.5 PPG per game, which is roughly a 60% kill rate on the season. The buete about this stack is we can do a little game stack correlation on the other side and just play all the damn Predators blue-liners against the gold which is D vs Florida.
ONE OFF SKATERS
JT Compher (Colorado)
Immediately back to the well with Compher, who as long as he is under 5k and skating with Skog and Mikko then he’s in play.
Also consider: Sean Monahan, Mark Scheifele
Alex Ovechkin (Washington)
NY is giving up a ton of shots and Ovi is the shot machine as always. Best option to pay up at winger as a one off today.
Also consider: Brock Boeser, Patrick Kane
Mattias Ekholm (Nashville)
Pick any Preds D-man tonight, but I will take the value guy who is due.
Also consider: Quinn Hughes
GOALIES
Jordan Binnington (Blues) … Very consistent goalie all season long and we are back to picking on the Coyotes who are not very good.
Kevin Lankinen (Blachawks) … This is the value Goalie today, he has high shot volume upside and I like Chicago to win.
SLAP … SHOTS
LINE LOCK OF THE NIGHT: Aleksander Barkov, Patrick Hornqvist, Jonathan Huberdeau (Florida PP1 – Wheel of Fortune line)
ONE OFF STUD: Alex Ovechkin (Caps)
CONTRARIAN ONE OFF: Brock Boeser (Canucks)
ONE OFF VALUE WINGER: JT Compher (Avalanche)
TOP DEFENSE-MAN: Matthias Ekholm (Predators)
