The Slapshot – Mon, March 8th

We dive into tonight’s set of games while extending another invitation to all those NBA dollars that are in the NHL lobby thanks to their All-Star Break.  There are only five games tonight and it includes Edmonton vs Ottawa so without a doubt the Oilers are the most likely chalk team tonight.

STACKS

St. Louis Blues

Ryan O’Reilly, Vlad Tarasenko, Jordan Kyrou

Once again we pick on the Sharks.  With Vlad Tarasenko back for his second game his price has almost doubled up to a whopping $4,200.  Lock him in on the top line tonight for St. Louis in a dream match-up.

Montreal Canadiens vs Vancouver Canucks

The Habs and Canucks will meet for the 6th time in 2021 and the previous meetings have totaled 11, 10, 7, 8 and 8 goals in them each.  Needless to say, when they have met up the results have ended up winning people who used them a ton of money.  Two teams with lots of speed and limited defense to slow things down should continue to make this a high scoring affair tonight in Vancouver and I want both sides of this game.

Nick Suzuki has 2 Goals, 5 Assists and 9 total shots in the previous five games, his line isn’t as sexy overall without Josh Anderson (Line 3 for some reason) and obviously no Cam Gallagher / Tyler Toffoli on it, but Suzuki should be a good one off from the Canadiens that you can play uncorrelated.  The correlation play for the Canadiens is Danault – Gallagher – Tatar, while Tyler Toffoli was the goal machine in the previous meetings with the Canucks.  All in all, for the Montreal side, it seems to stand that we could see goals come from all three top lines and just stacking a single line doesn’t get you to the top.

So the line we want to focus on tonight will be Miller-Boeser-Hoglander for Vancouver.

POSITIONAL TARGETS

CENTERS

  1. Connor McDavid (EDM)
  2. Ryan O’Reilly (STL)
  3. J.T. Miller (VAN) … Don’t mind Horvat either but I would prefer the VAN2 line for a full stack so Miller ranks higher for me
  4. Nick Suzuki / Philip Danault (MON)

WINGS

  1. Brady Tkachuk (OTT)
  2. Vlad Tarasenko (STL)
  3. Alex Ifallo (LAK)
  4. Evander Kane (SJ)
  5. Brendan Gallagher (MON)

DEFENSE

  1. Quinn Hughes (VAN)
  2. Tyson Barrie (EDM) … Ethan Bear for $2500 the value pivot to get cheap Edmonton exposure . He is projected to get PP minutes for min price.  He’ll get an assist or two tonight and that will justify the punt easily.
  3. Shea Weber (MON)
  4. Vince Dunn (STL)

GOALIES

  1. John Gibson (ANA) … Ducks and Kings looks like the chalk spot for goalies tonight and the Ducks can win this game but Gibson will be the lower owned of the two goalies.
  2. Marc-Andre Fleury (VGK) … The most consistent goalie option tonight.

Contrarian Goalie:  Thatcher Demko (VAN) … The Canucks give up a TON of shots and might give up over 40 tonight.  That kind of volume will negate giving up a couple of goals and Demko’s recent form has been pretty good as well, so he is worth consideration if you fade the Canadiens.
