The Dongers Club – Wed – April 14th – Early

Five game early slate with no Site Synchronicity as DraftKings has the full five games on it — including a seven inning game between the Twins and the Red Sox in Minnesota.

WEATHER

No issues with 80+ degree temps and no rain scheduled for the game in Dunedin.

Everywhere else is cooler temps, most notably in Minnesota – but it won’t be snowing there today like it was on Tuesday.

I have had a lot of success riding a SP game stack on the short slates and today is not that much different.   The three games I would focus on for SP stacks are BOS-MIN, MIL-CHC and LAA-KC (Very contrarian)

CORBIN BURNES

Simply put, you can be that guy who is like hey, look at me, I’m not gonna play Burnes vs the Cubs on a short 5 game slate where you gotta roster two pitchers and there’s really not much in the way of solid alternatives besides game stacking one game.  Burnes is rightfully the top owned pitcher today and one that offers the most strikeout upside against a really bad lineup.

KENTA MAEDA vs NATE EOVALDI

We can look to game stack these guys who just flat out remind me of each other.  Cold temps up in Minnesota, short 7 inning game and two guys who can either navigate safely or both get blown up.  So just go all in with the Spider-man gamestack or pair one with Burnes.  Either one will do but I would side with Maeda if picking just one.

YANKS & RAYS – The most obvious hitting spot on the board.

LeMahieu / Bruce, Jay — Cavan Biggio

I will just spare you the full lengthy story about how somewhere last year in the middle of COVID-19 there was a glitch in the Matrix and today is not really Wednesday.  The whole calendar just seems off in the World right now but that won’t stop Bruce, Jay from being a solid play today.  Bottom line is this…  It’s a good ballpark, great weather, bad pitcher (Ross the Stripper) and an offense that is cold but waiting for an explosion game against a pitching staff they’ve gotta start getting used to seeing now.  DJ and Bruce are the two picks for the Yankees to get things going.

For the Jays, they’re getting Corey Kluber, who I admit I had forgotten was a horrible April pitcher as he takes a month or so to really get going.  There’s enough evidence so far in his starts to support riding the Blue Jays in this obvious hitting spot as well.   Vlad Jr has been their most consistent hitter all season long but I would look at Cavan Biggio who at 3B eligibility gives us a nice upside play at a weak position on this slate.

NATIONALS

Trea Turner – Josh Bell – Kyle Schwarber

It’s been a pretty rough start for the Nationals offense.  They had COVID issues cancel their opening series with the Mets, then they rolled out a couple quick games at home vs Atlanta prior to a weird April west coast visit to L.A. and now in St. Louis.  Compounding issues was the fact that Schwarber and Bell their new toys had to miss time due to COVID, but they’re now going into game three with being back in the lineup and the thoughts of going back home should get this offense going soon.  Look for them to get a little start on that today as Trea Turner joins the 2021 baseball season to get things going.

BREWERS

Yelich – Shaw – Hiura – Bradley Jr.

My model loves them and vs Jake Arrieta I can understand why since he just isn’t that good and the park plays well for hitters with the roof closed.
