On Sunday I wrote that Paul Goldschmidt was going to not get a 0 and if he did get a 0 that I would run a free-roll contest with a Dongers Club Swag prize tonight. Well, thank you Paul Goldschmidt for the free brand advertisement I guess because he didn’t get a single point. Not one. Not two. Not three. Not four. Not five. Not six. Zero. Point. Zero. So with that said, I must stick to my guns, but what fun is just a single game contest for some Dongers Club Swag? Nah. Let’s officially launch the April prize series. Here are the details.
- There will be a contest every Tuesday Main slate in April (6th, 13th, 20th, 27th)
- Contest is free, no prizes paid out on the DFS site– this is because of the DK limitations on sizing.
- Your top 3 average scores from the four contests will be used to create a total overall average. So you don’t have to play all four, but you need to play in at least three of them.
- Highest average score across all four wins the top prize: Dongers Club Mug of your choice or 1 Month free site credit. You decide.
- BONUS: If you score the highest point total on April 27th (the 4th leg) you receive 10 bonus points for the May contest.
- Your membership must still be active as of April 27th to win any prizes.

Also one other general site note: Yes, I am working on migrating the entire site/platform over to a new server/environment which will be cleaner and faster.
WEATHER
We have an April game in Texas on the main slate and this is note worthy because last year in the dead of summer with the roof closed the ballpark played exactly like I anticipated which was towards the Pitchers. But the roof is open and it’s upper 70’s with the wind blowing out to left field. It’s not really known how much the wind will impact things since it’s a giant COSTCO warehouse building they are playing in — but there are some panels which should be open and I would expect a little boost for hitting here. Not to mention Tanner Roark is in the building.
Sub 50 and wind blowing in at Coors Field. Not to mention two bad offenses.

LUCAS GIOLITO – $9,300
It’s Kershaw vs an ice cold Oakland team, Giolito vs a bad Seattle team or Darvish against the Giants. Those are the three top guys today and I want no part of Kershaw in the month of April as he normally isn’t ramped up yet — even against the bad Oakland offense right now. It’s just not a dominant Kershaw spot. Darvish is certainly someone to warrant our attention as well and we can pair him with Giolito today without too much trouble. I like them both but Giolito is the more reliable play because he won’t get pulled for a pinch hitter and he isn’t adjusting to a new catcher like Darvish.
YU DARVISH – $9,100
TYLER GLASNOW – $9,100
Should be able to easily handle the Red Sox lefties (Verdugo, Devers) as neither is hitting anything to start the season. I realize Boston put up double digit’s yesterday but the lineup is just not that good and only J.D. Martinez seems to be a consistent threat right now.
With the hitting being so low priced on both sites I don’t see a need to get cute and not take one of the plays above, however there is another arm who should pitch well today …
GERMAN MARQUEZ – $7,000
Some will look at the Diamondbacks history vs Marquez and the fact that the game is in Coors and point to the D’Backs as the top stack today. Nonsense, they aren’t good offensively right now with only Ketel Marte producing and if you are looking to stack ‘Zona it should be Josh Rojas, Eduardo Escobar and Pavan Smith — none of whom have done much yet. Keep an eye on Pavan Smith who could start to become the mainstay on this lineup though. We have to make a stand on Coors tonight and with bad weather conditions, ground ball Marquez and a poor D’Backs lineup I trust we can pivot to the pitching here instead as an SP2.
Preferred DraftKings SP combinations
- Giolito & Darvish
- Giolito & Glasnow
- Glasnow & Darvish
Preferred FanDuel SP play: Giolito

TORONTO BLUE JAYS
Gurriel – Vlad – Bichette – Biggio – Semien
Playing the weather and a good lineup against a LHP in Taylor Hearn who is the projected main pitcher tonight after Dane Dunning opens with a few walks and runs allowed in the first inning. Lourdes I can’t wait to get to home plate with that Gurriel tonight. Breaux I am going to be talking all the Bichette tonight when we hit it Biggio. Semien Hernandez? I hardly know her!… Ok, I’ll stop now. Gimme 5 Jays, Gimme 5 Jays and Rays…
NEW YORK METS
Pete Alonso, JD Davis, Francisco Lindor
Welcome to the MLB season Mets and now that you got those first couple of AB’s out of the way they can start to get the timing down. Good reverse splits spot against Bullwinkle Anderson tonight for Pete Alonso and J.D. Davis. Philly has a much improved bullpen this season but I would suspect we see RHP out of the pen today as well given that their only LHP is Jose Alvarado and at most he pitches one inning when he does come in. So the timing should be that Alonso could see him out of the pen when he is brought in to face the top of the order (Nimmo, Conforto, Lindor, etc.). But overall the lefties tonight are solid as well to consider but Pete/JD stand out to me.
PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES
Alec Bohm, JT Realmuto, Matt Joyce
So let me check the boxes here. The slate has Tanner Roark and Marcus Stroman on it? Well, I can’t fully endorse playing Rangers hitters even against Roark (remember, guys need to see Roark’s trash 3 times and then they just pound him into the sand like an overweight dude going to the beach after finalizing his divorce and giving zero fucks), but I sure as hell can endorse attacking Marcus Sensitiveman in his first start in two years. Before I saw the Phils lineup I had a lot to like for Alec Bohm in this spot as well as J.T. Realmuto slightly but not as an isolated play. Low and behold what do we get? We get Alec Bohm in the two hole and no he isn’t behind Andrew McCutchen. He is behind the king of random lead off hitter put me in the Dongers Club and when I am in the Dongers Club you play me. That’s right. Joyce, Matt leading off. Lets go.
TAMPA BAY RAYS
Mike Brosseau, Randy Arozarena, Auston Meadows
Need to see what type of lineup we get out of Tampa tonight, but it should hopefully feature Brosseaux in a good spot tonight and a little Chicken & Rice Randy Arozarena too.
