The Dongers Club – May 8th (Early)

Quick break down for the 6 game early slate on DK which has one game at 1PM, two at 2PM and three at 4PM.   The model has been updated

WEATHER SPOTS

Rockies vs Cardinals – Lingering showers but game will play

Warmer games out in SF/OAK area.

Max Scherzer

Max’s wife gave birth to a baby boy this week and the kid came out with the stare of his father.  Just thought I would pass that along.   This game might look like a trap to Max with some other good SP’s going but it’s cooler here than other spots and I’ll ride and die with Max on the new daddy narrative.

Carlos Martinez

Fine, sure, lets roster the worst arm on the slate against the worst offense on the slate.  Weather is an issue but your third SP today is either C-Mart or Corey Kluber in a SP stack with Max.  The two other options I have listed here could potentially have more blow up issues than C-Mart in my mind today.

Jose Berrios

Has to be a very popular play today because any somewhat competent pitcher against the Tigers who is below 10k will be projected as a good play for the foreseeable future  due to them having a K rate north of 30% and Berrios himself does a good job getting swinging strikes.  It’s roll with Berrios or ride a Baddoo (Ice Cold) – Grossman – Goodrum stack

Kevin Gausman

The value of $1500 savings on Gausman vs Musgrove or even more vs Glasnow cannot be understated this afternoon.   Gausman is going 6-7 innings in each start and should average 5-6 strikeouts when he has that consistency.  He is coming off COVID-19 list also but I do not see any concerns for durability today.

Minnesota Twins

Kepler, Donaldson, Sano

They should be in a much better position to post double digits today with Kepler expected back in lead off spot and drawing Jose Urena.  Kepler is an auto play here and the lineup should benefit seeing some lefties out of the pen which is music for Donaldson, Cruz, Sano and others.  With Buxton on the IL we should see Garlic come in as a very popular play once again.

Tampa Rays

Meadows, Lowe

Good weather for a day game in Oakland which is a massive boost for that stadium.  Montas is one of the arms I would attack on this slate and given that Tampa hits RHP better they should thrive here.  I would look to get exposure for hitters in this game well over the WAS-NYY and PIT-CHC games.
