As I mentioned with the All-Star Game article, these single game articles aren’t really my cup of tea and I hope I was clear when you subscribed that we do not focus on MLB content for slates smaller than four games.
But honestly, do you you really want to spend your Thursday evening sweating out a Soccer match between Haiti and Canada or do you want to be watching Xander Bogaerts line doubles into the gap?
That’s not a trick question.
Showdown Analysis
With the start of the second half the first immediate thought is that most of the hitters have been off for three days now and the guys who were getting BP in at Coors Field were probably not getting quality BP in at that. So normally I would be against using pitchers in showdown games in good hitting conditions, but tonight I don’t see an explosive 10-7 type game.
The Yankees changed from Jordan Montgomery to Domingo German, who is not an ideal match-up to consider against Boston. He struggled all season against RH power and even with lefty Jarren Duran getting the call up for Boston, there are still some power RH bats in this lineup that are danger for him.
Eduardo Rodriguez on the other hand is someone I definitely want today as I anticipate him giving 5+ innings for Boston tonight.

Jarren Duran ($4,000) … This is the hot topic tonight. If he is in the lineup, the Red Sox top prospect bat makes a ton of sense given his upside and his price. I don’t mind cheap value chalk on a showdown slate.
