Tonight’s MLB slate is one that separates the real MLB players from the casuals. What I mean by that is, if you are playing tonight’s slate then consider yourself a true lover of MLB and not because it’s only seven games, but more because it’s just the poster child for what an August MLB slate looks like. Doesn’t make it any less fun by any stretch, but it’s also just full of “that’s odd” matchups.
WEATHER
Good news is no weather issues tonight.
The first thing which stood out tonight is that there is a major lack of quality pitching choices, so rather than try to get cute and be the smartest guy in the room (or gal), you should just take what it is and move on to the hitting to do deeper analysis.
Anthony DeSclafani
Two of his last three starts have not been as good as he was early in the season, but the Arizona lineup provides everything the Italian should need to rebound to form. He really does a good job with keeping the ball in the zone and should have a low stress evening.
Tylor Megill
Picking on Miami with a RHP is a no brainer and even when pitchers are off they seem to be doing well vs Miami right now and Megill has a 29.3% K rate vs RHB himself, of which the Marlins mostly roll out their core in that split. Dont’ sweat Magneuris Sierra leading off, he’s not a hard contact bat at all.
Giants
Crawford, Yaz, Wade, Posey, Bryant
I mean, they’re probably going to just roll in smack the Diamondbacks pitching around and leave town before Arizona even knows what hit them. Hard to not love Brandon Crawford, having an MVP season and absolutely crushing RHP.
Yankees
Rizzo, Gallo, Stanton
The boys are back in town! The boys are back in town! Wouldn’t you know it, that the Yankees new toys come to Yankee Stadium as home players for the first time and their first match-up is against the fricken Orioles. Go figure, it always seems that when the Yankees need some good mojo they get a series with Baltimore and some good weather for hitting too. Rizzo has been fantastic since jumping ship to the AL and should be one of the more popular and logical plays here today. Don’t sleep on the Baltimore side in this game though, Andrew Heaney will be making his debut for Anaheim and his 14 HR allowed to RH batters should be a warning sign for trouble in the Bronx.

My sneaky team tonight is going to be down in the Trop as the Rays welcome in Seattle for what should be a very entertaining series believe it or not.
