Key Skaters

W Vladimir Tarasenko (STL)

• After a three-game pointless drought, Tarasenko bounced back with a goal and an assist in his last contest and finds himself in a good spot against Detroit. The Red Wings have the 11th-highest expected goals against per 60 mark at 5v5 and at just $5,400 (Tarasenko was $6,700 when these two teams met towards the end of November) I expect him to be a popular play.

C Trevor Zegras (ANA)

• Not only can he create highlight-reel plays he’s productive consistently and finds himself skating against a Columbus teams who comes into this game with the third-highest expected goals against per 60 rate at 5v5. Zegras has points in four straight (eight assists total) with 11 shots over that span. This is a plus matchup for the budding superstar.

C Auston Matthews (TOR)

• It would be hard to find a skater in the NHL that is more on fire than AM34 right now. Matthews has goals in seven straight games, a total of 10 over that span and has hit the shot bonus on four occasions over that stretch. In a game against Tampa that should be fast-paced Matthews’ upside continues to be through the roof.

Favorite Line Stacks

St. Louis Blues

Brayden Schenn, Vladimir Tarasenko, Jordan Kyrou, Torey Krug

• There’s simply too much value here for a forward line that has full even strength and power-play correlation. Detroit has the 26th-ranked penalty kill in the NHL while St. Louis is boasting the second-best power-play. Offensive-minded defenseman Torey Krug also slides in here running one of the point on the top power-play unit.

Toronto Maple Leafs

John Tavares, William Nylander, Morgan Rielly

• As much as I’d love to stack the Leafs with Matthews here it’s simply a line stack that’s too salary-cap absorbing. With that being said, if you find value you like around them, throw AM34 in here! Toronto has scored four or more goals in four of their last seven games. While Tampa goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy is great, Toronto is skating with a ton of confidence right now and could easily put up a five-spot.
