The Dongers Club – May 7th

Last night was a disaster and it’s fair for me to admit that I just have a Kryptonite whenever it comes to slates that have lots of PPD question marks, pitchers changing or lineup scratches.  I find that I do well when there’s a lot of things going on, but I also like to know exactly what I am going into and it is what it is.  I just suck when there’s a ton of Rain or Late Scratch noise.

Luckily, today isn’t an issue in that regard (so it appears).

WEATHER

The only PPD game we will likely get is Royals vs Orioles.  Good.  Screw em.

LOGAN WEBB

Just copy and paste that write up I did from two nights ago on Logan Webb, who probably won’t finish number one in total strikeouts tonight but he will finish off the Cardinals with 7 strong innings of shutout Baseball.  This is an early evening game in San Francisco too, which only further helps the Pitchers.  Yes, even Steven Matz will pitch well in this game.

MAX FRIED

Max Fried vs Corbin Burnes is the marquee pitching match-up tonight but I trust Fried much like I did in his last start to pitch very well, only this time, he’s definitely gonna do it.

Nah, in all seriousness though he will really shut down the hot bats of Tellez and Wong for this Brewers lineup tonight.

MICHAEL LORENZEN

Why is Michael Lorenzen pitching well this year?   He isn’t giving up line drives and that’s the key to pitching right now as you can get away with fly balls, butu really he has gotten hitters to chase out of the zone and should get a bad Nationals lineup to do that here tonight.

RAYS vs MARINERS

These teams are beating each other up and I’m going to chase what has been a very productive series up in Seattle so far.  Nobody is talking about how well Manuel Margot is playing for the Rays right now and we have another Wander Franco should go 4-4 type game tonight.

  • Wander Franco
  • Randy Arozarena
  • Manuel Margot

For the Mariners it was horrible to see them blow that lead but awesome to see Jarred Kelenic deliver a big time 8th inning go ahead homer.  It smelled like a coming out party for him and with Suarez hot, J-Rod always primed to go off and cheap Jesse Winker we ourselves the top spot to look at tonight.

  • Jesse Winker
  • Jarred Kelenic
  • Eugenio Suarez

MARLINS

Decent weather in PETCO tonight, so hammer the over and …. stack the Marlins?  That’s right.  Sean Manaea is coming off a 110 pitch outing which is 24 more than he has thrown in any other game in 2022 & when Manaea struggles it is  usually with power allowed to opposing RHB.

  • Jesus Aguilar – four of last five he has 10+ DK Fpts, hitting ball well.
  • Jorge Soler
  • Garrett Cooper

CATCHER

Ah yes….  The famous lawfirm of Eliaz, Zunino and Stallings.  Attorney’s who have your best interests in their wallets.  Wait…. the slogan should be their interest is your wallet…  ah, to hell with it, Catcher isn’t that bad tonight.

OUTFIELD – Mt. Rushmore

Outfield is the deepest position tonight, so if you decide to fade Mr. Saturday Night Trout for other options it makes sense, just go ahead and play his HR prop so you aren’t tilting at 9:28 PM EST tonight when he drops one into the Rocks.

  1. Mike Saturday Night Trout
  2. Jesse Winker
  3. Jorge Soler
  4. Manuel Margot

[spacer height=”20px”]

OUTFIELD – Value

Lots of decent value from the Marlins, Mariners and Rays, outside of those spots here are two others.

  1. Edward Olivares … Leading off again, good contact guy, doubt he homers.
  2. Jordan Luplow
