The Dongers Club – June 10th

I believe this is the first Friday of the MLB 2022 season where we have 15 games that all start after 7PM and to make the situation even better we have no games which are expected to be PPD.  It’s not officially Summer yet, but this is about as close to summer perfection as we can have.

If only the Cubs were playing this afternoon at home.

Tonight’s pitching gives us the return of Tylor but no Tyler, a Zac but no Zach or Zack or Zackary.  There’s three Luis’, a Jose and a Glenn.  A Bruce, a Dick, a Paul, an Erick, a Joe, Jakob and of course, America’s favorite Chad.

Oh yes, we also have Luis Castillo pitching on a Friday.

TOP TWO

JOE MUSGROVE

Musgrove is at home where he always pitches well and is facing the Rockies who have a 22% weighted K% and 23% over the last week.  All total Musgrove is projected to be near the top on total strikeouts tonight and has very few bats in this lineup which can take him deep.

AARON ASHBY

The Brewers will look to get a win to end their losing streak off the arm of one of their top arms, even if he is the youngest of the group.  Ashby has a 34.3% CSW% and has sustained it consistently through each of his starts.  That should offset a low strikeout team like the Nationals who are seeing him for the first time as a starter.

DONT MIND

TRISTON McKENZIE

I would project McKenzie in the same range as Ashby tonight but with a little less risk and less upside.  He saw Oakland back in early May and since then has only gone deeper and deeper into games.  The young kid should get lots of whiffs off his heater and put the Athletics away with his breaking pitches tonight.

CONTRARIAN PAIR

WALKER BUEHLER

I still believe in Walker and the Giants offense is ice cold which is going to offer us a great late night hammer opportunity for Buehler to start to get right.  I am not confident enough in him right now to say this is his break out start for 2022, but it is going to be a start in the right direction.

ROANSY CONTRERAS

Atlanta is still striking out plenty and they’ll probably be a little side-ways facing Contreras who has proven his shit will float at the big league levels.  A four pitch guy who has not given up hard contact on his primary three pitchers should find a way to get through this hot Braves lineup tonight if he can avoid the lead off homer to Acuna.

Pitching Nuggets …

Spencer Strider – I would rather go with Contreras in this game.

Tyler Megill – Projected back and facing the bad LAA lineup.  I am cautious of his first return back.

Chad Kuhl – Isn’t as cheap as you would want, but could be paired with Musgrove for a 2-1 gamestack.

Luis Castillo – It’s Friday my friends.

[spacer height=”20px”]

The combination of our conspiracy theory on Friday’s having the juiced balls and tonight’s slate having lots of good match-ups for the hitters makes this into a slate where I see offense being in a lot of areas.

[spacer height=”20px”]

The Teoscar Hernandez, Vlad Jr, Matt Chapman (Blue Jays)

Tigers rookie SP Elvin Rodriguez has some good talent but he was caught tipping his fastballs big time against the Yankees and got lit up.

Either he has no clue how to use the internet and didn’t hear about this and continues to get lit up or he figured it out and now is over thinking it and ends up throwing 60 pitches in under 2 innings before turning it over to whatever garbage the Tigers have in their bullpen which has pulled out some voodoo and has a 3.67 ERA over the last month.  That ends this weekend.

Do you remember the name Teoscar Hernandez?  Yes, he still plays the Baseball.  Say hi to him in your lineup tonight.  He’s the guy with a flame next to his name.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Schwarber, Castellanos (Phillies)

This team is back from their favorite home away from home in Miller Park and should try to ride their recent surge against a pitcher who is probably 1-2 starts away from visiting the IL.

It’s Kyle Schwarber month once again as he has turned on the jets in June and by jets I mean launching bombs in a game that is definitely going over.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Ced Mullins, Trey Mancini, Ryan Mountcastle, Adley Rutschman (Orioles)

With a temp of 80 degrees and a dew point of 72 I sure hope that Jonathan Heasley watches his cornhole tonight man.  It could get ugly in Kauffman Stadium and hopefully Baltimore scores 18 runs to force the Royals to fire Cal Eldred.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Adames, Urias, Tellez (Brewers)

Almost every hitter in the Brewers lineup has a Tier potential match-up against Erick Fedde.  Weather should be good here in Nats park and Milwaukee is due to wake up in a big way.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Xander Bogaerts, JD Martinez, Rafael Devers (Red Sox)

Hopefully X is in the lineup after a night off because he should take a Marco Gonzales cutter and drive it out where Zunino used to homer here (thats code for a double dong game).

[spacer height=”20px”]

I am going to continue to point out the boosted player list and while it’s not batting 1.000 there are always guys in this group that you are going to find are near must owns for their price.  So shop here on a night which is looking great for those who play one lineup and want to spread things out.

Today’s BOOST+ Players

DJ LeMahieu, Ryan Mountcastle, Kyle Schwarber, Rowdy Tellez, Cedric Mullins, Nolan Gorman, Harold Ramirez

Tier 2 Boost:  I love this grouping tonight

Kirk, Ozuna, Rivera, Urias, Hays, Thomas, Gonzalez, Merrifield, Happ, Jazzzzzzz, Santander, Teoscar, Muncy, Trevino, Escobar

CATCHER

The catchers are good tonight.  But do not bother paying up here above 4k.

  1. Adley Rutschmann
  2. Yadi Molina
  3. Jose Trevino

[spacer height=”20px”]

FIRST BASE

I don’t know what to make of the White Sox right now as I constantly get them wrong but Jose Abreu for $4,400 against Glenn Otto is just getting a little too tempting.

  1. Rowdy Tellez
  2. Ryan Mountcastle
  3. Jose Abreu
  4. Vladdy Jr

[spacer height=”20px”]

SECOND BASE

The return of Muncy is good to see but his price is not discounted much.  He has historically given the Giants fits and should hit Junis hard.

  1. Nolan Gorman
  2. Max Muncy
  3. Luis Arraez

[spacer height=”20px”]

THIRD BASE

EE is having a great west coast trip right now.  Somehow the Mets should get 5-7 runs off the Angels today so he is the most likely candidate for our DFS lineups.

  1. Eduardo Escobar
  2. Eugenio Suarez
  3. Nolan Arenado
  4. Alex Bregman

[spacer height=”20px”]

SHORTSTOP

Hey guys.  Thanks for showing up here.  It’s nice to see Shortstop looking to get back to being the best position in fantasy finally.  Granted, having 15 games on the slate definitely helps too.

  1. Luis Urias … Stinks that he is only SS here on DK because at $3400 he becomes a great value on this slate there.  FanDuel I would use him at 3B.
  2. X is gonna give it to ya.
  3. Francisco Lindor
  4. Jazz Chisholm Jr

[spacer height=”20px”]

OUTFIELD – Mt Rushmore

Love this mid range here for these four.

  1. Kyle Schwarber
  2. Teoscar Hernandez
  3. Cedric Mullins
  4. Austin Meadows

OUTFIELD – Tier 2

  1. Manuel Margot
  2. Yordan Alvarez
  3. JD Martinez
  4. Nick Castellanos

OUTFIELD – Value

  1. Oscar Gonzalez – Why is he still 2k?  What are we doing here DK??????
  2. Pavin Smith
  3. Harold Ramirez

OWNERSHIP THOUGHTS

Let’s do a little Buy/Hold/Sell on pitching chalk tonight.  Buy meaning we like them, Hold means I’ll pass personally but don’t hate it and Sell means, god no, probably better doing a leverage play

Luis Seveirno:   Hold

Spencer Strider:   Hold

Triston McKenzie:  Buy/Hold

Jose Berrios:  Sell

HITTING CHALK
