The list of names going tonight definitely leaves a lot to desire, so I am once again deciding to just go off the reservation and trust my gut on who is going to win, not get destroyed and can calmly go into our lineups despite maybe not having the best name on the board. So lets dig into our inner Oracle for another contrarian SP or three on a slate where there is no game with a total below 8.5
LUIS H GARCIA
I don’t care how much my brain says that the Royals hit well in Texas/Houston, they are not winning a game in this series. This is another low K spot but the Astros pitchers are always solid at home. Kansas City should struggle offensively so long as Garcia doesn’t walk them.
NICK PIVETTA
While most of the country is dealing with lots of heat and humidity, Fenway Park in Boston tonight has a lower Dew Point and the threat of bad weather which can push this game along. Yes, the wind is blowing out towards the monster but 5-9 hitters for Tampa are all high strikeout upside for Pivetta and if he starts off with his Knuckle-Curve working in the first inning I can see Pivetta going 5+ with 8+ strikeouts tonight.
ANDRE PALLANTE
Pallante is nothing special, he’s the kid in the movie about high school kids who nobody pays attention too until it’s some weird moment where they need the nerd to come in and save the world from evil zombie monsters (no, I don’t watch much movies anymore but this is how I imagine they make them these days). Anyways, he’s gonna get up there and throw some garbage and generally if you are a team who isn’t very disciplined at the plate he will do fine. Hey look, the Braves after a long game last night have to turn around and come back out as a chalky offense today. What could go wrong right? Give me a sneaky art on Pallante who gets the boost of a free swinging lineup to boost his K% upside. I really wanted to even consider Ian Anderson as this is the contrarian under tonight but I can’t use Anderson against Arenado and Goldy without sweating bullets each AB for them.

OTHER PITCHING THOUGHTS …
Yusei Kikuchi does well when he can get teams to hit into grounders and the environment in Oakland is drastically better than other pitching environments. Will chalk mediocre pitching bust tonight after chalk aces busted last night? I kind of hope so. Yusei Kikuchi is chalk and I say I would rather lose to that and move on to Wednesday if it hits than play it.
Guardians-Tigers has runs all over it, so I am not touching Quantrill
Ryan Pepiot could do well enough on FanDuel as he fills in for Mitch White today. Not worth the $ on DK
Tonight is the kind of slate where a veteran is most likely to outperform public perception. The other notables who I thought of are Kyle Hendricks, Alex Wood and not a veteran but Michael Kopech

And now for the part where we tilt our heads back and laugh, right? Honestly, it’s not a dominant stack teams slate despite the pitching being so bleak, but there’s a lot of teams to secure 2-2-2-2 type builds from, so lets analyze them.
RANGERS vs ORIOLES
Camden Could and should go nuclear tonight. For the Orioles I lean them because Spencer Howard is pitching for Texas to at least start the game and he does not belong in the MLB. Mancini/Santander and Mullins are elite plays today. However, Texas in a better park than their own and with VERY Humid conditions is going to hit 2 if not 6 HR tonight.
WHITE SOX
Anderson, Robert, Abreu
Chris Archer has been scratched which brings us Josh Winder. Winder has been hit hard by RH and with some humid weather tonight is most likely to give up 3 HR in the first inning despite facing those douche-bags on the South Side. If he throws sliders to Timmay, Robert and Abreu, those will be your 3 HR.
GUARDIANS
Kwan, Ramirez, Naylor, Reyes
Should turn into another Tigers bad bullpen game, where who knows maybe they turn to position players by the 4th inning this time. It’s been too long waiting for that Jose Ramirez blow up game and he should deliver it today while Josh Naylor/Franmil Reyes are both inches away from having big games as well.
