C Patrice Bergeron (BOS)

The Bruins take on the lowly Coyotes on Saturday, a team that was just dominated by the Penguins and a team that should have a rough go of it this season. Despite the matchup, Bergeron’s salary is incredibly affordable ($6,800) as the sixth-highest-priced center on the slate.

W Alex Ovechkin (WAS)

Much like most of the teams in the NHL, Ovechkin has been a dominant force against Montreal over the years scoring 34 goals in 52 regular season games against the Habs. The Caps are 0-2 to start the season and Ovechkin hasn’t logged a goal yet despite firing seven shots. This is a good spot for Ovie and the Caps against a Montreal team playing its second road game in as many nights.

Center

Auston Matthews (TOR)

Speaking of dominating a team, Matthews has owned the Senators with 23 goals in 26 regular season games against Ottawa. AM34 recorded a goal Thursday night and hasn’t been shy about firing the puck with 10 shots and that should continue on Saturday.

Value: Tyler Seguin (DAL)

Winger

Timo Meier (SJ)

This is a matchup of two 0-2 teams but the Blackhawks, San Jose’s opponent tonight is a team worth picking on. Through two games Meier has one point and 11 shots on goal. The winger dominated Chicago last season burying four goals and dishing out two assists in three games while firing 16 shots. Chicago has allowed at least 35 shots in each of its first two games.

Defenseman

Dougie Hamilton (NJ)

Hamilton is a force offensively from the blueline despite recording his lowest point total last season since his second season in the NHL. He’ll see his chances to fire pucks at the net with 22 to 23 minutes of ice time as the Devils face the Red Wings who are playing in their second.

Favorite Line Stacks

Toronto Maple Leafs

Auston Matthews, William Nylander, Mitch Marner, Morgan Rielly

This four-skater stack is one that you’re going to pay for but this is a spot where Toronto wouldn’t surprise me if they score six or more goals. I also wouldn’t be surprised if they absolutely fuck us over because, well, they’re the Maple Leafs. This covers four of the five skaters on the top power-play unit as well as pieces from the first line (Matthews and Marner), the second line (Nylander), and top defensive pairing (Rielly).

Boston Bruins

Patrice Bergeron, David Pastrnak, Taylor Hall, Hampus Lindholm

Like the Toronto stack above, these guys all skate on Boston’s top power-play unit. Arizona had one of the worst penalty kills in the league last season and was one of the most penalized teams in the NHL. Stacking the Bruins is slightly more affordable than that of Toronto with similar upside.

Goalies

Matt Murray (TOR)

When chasing a win at a reasonable salary with a goalie that should see enough work in net, consider Murray who should bounce back after a brutal performance in his first start as a Leaf.

NOTE: If Samsonov starts in net, pivoting to him is fine.

John Gibson (ANA)

Gibson stopped 44 pucks on 48 shots on Wednesday in a winning effort against Seattle. Seeing that many shots is just what we want when rostering a goalie. Despite the Islanders playing a little slower and more methodical historically, Gibson should see enough work at a very low $7,100 price tag.
