Bowl season has once again come and flown right by us. We are into the heart of it now with tomorrow’s big game slate and then Monday’s ‘New Years, not really New Years’ slate as well.
For the appetizer today we got a little ACC action, some MAC, some Mountain West, PAC-12 and ole SEC action for us as well.
Today is also the worst Bowl game ever invented.
The Duke Mayo Bowl. Nobody likes Mayo.
NOBODY.
And if you say you like MAYO. You are a nobody.
Today’s Bowl Games
- Duke’s Mayo Bowl: Maryland vs NC State
- Sun Bowl: Pittsburgh vs UCLA
- Gator Bowl: Notre Dame vs South Carolina
- Arizona Bowl: Ohio vs Wyoming
- Orange Bowl: Tennessee vs Clemson
No weather issues for these games. Chance of rain in the Mayo Bowl and the Sun Bowl, but very light.
I am once again listing the games in order of their start times, not in order of stacking
Maryland vs NC State (-1), over/under: 45.5
At the start of the season if you said these two lined up in a Bowl game I would be very interested in how they finished off the season because this is a potentially good DFS offense against a good defense. Really, they both sucked and kind back doored into this spot.
No definitive word on who plays QB for NC State today and I wouldn’t want to tell you to play any of them if they got 100% of the snaps although both Morris and Finley are cheap, so there is that for them.
This game sucks. Mayo sucks. Don’t stack it.
Baby Tua is without Jarrett and Demus, his main stays normally. He will have Senior Jeshaun Jones who had a big game in their final regular season game but outside of him and Thayer Thomas (NC State) I wouldn’t take a shot on anyone. I expect both teams to see what they have on the ground.

Pittsburgh vs UCLA (-8)
A lot of Pitt players opting out. Pitt finished strong but UCLA should trample them.
Nick Patti is in at QB for Pitt. He is a red shirt senior who had played a grand total of 19 career college games and he didn’t start many of them. In theory this is a nice matchup for WR Jared Wayne and Konata Mumpfield, but you are rolling the dice big time on Patti who isn’t gonna run much.
Kaz Allen declared for the NFL draft, he is with the team, but he aint playing IMO. This could turn into a game where UCLA gets looks at younger players, so I really don’t trust it much.

Notre Dame (-3.5) vs South Carolina
Rumors are swirling that Sam Hartman is going to wind up at Notre Dame via the transfer portal, which could be the spark that this game needs for Tyler Buchner to show out for Notre Dame in his return to the starting lineup. Unfortunately he will have to do such without Michael Mayer who is going into the NFL and South Carolina is a good defense.
Spencer Rattler is very intriguing for the Gamecocks, he too is without his TE as Jahiem Bell jumped into the portal and won’t play, but he should be locked in on Antwane Wells for a ton of volume

Ohio (-2.5) vs Wyoming, over/under: 41
This game has the lowest total on the board but it’s the most important one on the slate.
The MAC has proven me wrong so far in Bowl games and now Ohio gets a team who plays right into their strengths. Ohio sucks vs the pass but is great vs the run. Wyoming doesn’t pass, they just run.
This will be another shot for CJ Harris to develop and coming off a bad MAC Championship game I believe he is going to shine out today. He struggled in that game with just 2 YPC on 6 carries, but I think he can find holes against Wyoming who might not be as locked in on stopping his rushing ability.
For Wyoming I think the advantage should go to their offense vs Ohio’s defense, but Titus Swen who led them with 207 rushing attempts, 5.02 YPC and 8 touchdowns is out because he got kicked off the team. There is no clear indication where Wyoming will go at RB, but min priced Freshman Jordon Vaughn is one option and LJ Richardson is another. This team runs it a TON, there’s even some value in going both RB for min priced on a slate which is kinda bleak at RB.
I like the over in this game. Does that mean it beats out the next one as the best game on the slate? Ehh, maybe not that much, but it’s very sneaky

Tennessee vs Clemson (-6)
And then we have this game. We have Joe Milton vs Cade Klubnik, not exactly what you were expecting over a month ago with these teams, but here we are. Neither team was great defensively this season, so I would think that just continues today and this will no doubt be the late night hammer game that everyone has stacked up.
Tennessee will have to do it through the air vs Clemson and there is no doubt big play ability with their WR.
Clemson’s best player is Will Shipley. I said the RB slate is bleak, but there’s no better play today assuming he gets 15+ carries.

Milton has experience and talent and he has the arm to deliver some big plays
CJ Harris (Ohio) – $6100
Bounce back spot. QB is thin today, so trust guys who can do damage on the ground AND have something to prove
Dorian Thompson Robinson (UCLA) – $9600
DTR is the best “talent” at QB today, but I have concerns that he might not finish this game.

Will Shipley (Clemson) – $7100
Shipley is today’s RB who should dominate. He was the most consistent thing in Clemson’s offense and there shouldn’t be any rest concerns for him today
Logan Diggs (Notre Dame) – $5400
While I could see ND trying to see what Bouchner can do, I think they’ll be inclined more to lean on Diggs who had two 100 yard games this season and averaged 4.8 YPC
Jordon Vaughn (Wyoming) / LJ Richardson (Wyoming) – $3000
Monitor news right before this game starts, which is tricky since it’s later in the day but you are also not spending much here so the risk is definitely worth the reward… That said, we don’t really need value on this slate so I am fine fading these chalky risks.
Sieh Bangura (Ohio) – $7300
Bangura probably is one of the chalky options, but I am riding CJ Harris to do damage on the ground himself, so Bangura is more of a game stack play IMO.

Too good not to use.
Jake Bobo (UCLA) – $6900
Without Kaz Allen, who I believe will NOT suit up today, Bobo should see a jump in volume

Antonio Williams (Clemson) – $5600
Williams could break the slate and if this game shoots out he along with Shipley are fine to pair togethet from Clemson.
Wyatt Wieland (Wyoming) – $5000
