When Bruce Springsteen wrote about ‘Glory Days’, I am almost 99% certain he was envisioning a 15 game Tuesday slate in late June. In fact, this is the FIRST 15 game slate we have had all season my friends. I am 100% sure of this because I looked it up in our database here and as someone who still longs for those Sunday 15 game all day slates on FanDuel I can tell you this is definitely a win for us old folks who like to be nostalgic about the past.
When you go through the games tonight, you should have memories of these teams meeting and having dramatic events against each other. The Jeter throw against Oakland, Kirby Puckett’s homer vs the Braves, Albert Pujols going yard off Brad Lidge, the Red Sox scoring 14 runs in the first inning against the Marlins, the 1970 World Series re-match and much more.
Yes, my friends. Today is a great Baseball day.
WEATHER
We definitely still have some chances of storms out there, but after I was told I would be getting tornado like conditions on Monday and I got NOTHING, I can definitely say screw you Weathermen.
I say this and then I open my phone and see “Expect numerous thunderstorms to unleaseh downpours & gust winds later today.” Pfft, whatever.
Weather isn’t going to ruin the best day of the year. Not today woman.
Only a rookie DFS player would see 15 games and think they have to “find value” at pitching or anywhere else for that matter. The sea is your oyster my friend, you have every team to choose from, we can easily fit in a lineup which will produce 200+ points today no matter where you go on pricing at pitching and 9 times out of 10 on these 15 game slates, having at least one high $ pitching on DK wins because the cheap bats do come through. On FD it’s no reason to go below 8500 tonight.
It’s just a matter of which high $ arm we want…
TOP ARM(s)
SHOHEI OHTANI (DK: $11,300, FD: $10.6k)
It’s splitter day here in the Dongers Club. Darvish, will have his going and so too will the next guy. Neither of them have what Ohtani has. He will be getting tired soon as he always does, but a heavy RH lineup which he’s dominated (35% K, .182 xAVG) on the season and throw him up on the Mt. Rushmore of guys getting 30’s tonight on DraftKings.
KEVIN GAUSMAN (DK: $11,000, FD: $11k)
The park and HR potential for the Giants here does worry me, but Gausman is back in good form and after dropping 3 straight starts with sub 7 strikeouts he should get back to that 8-9 spot with 10 potential. I don’t see San Francisco hitting his splitter.
SP2 ARMS
Ranger Suarez (DK: $7700)
Suarez and Framber Valdez both are mirror images tonight. Ground ball lefties facing the teams who came back from London in their parks where the advantage should shift more to the pitchers than hitters.
Suarez is also a much different pitcher now than when he saw the Cubs in Philly earlier this year. He has trusted to use a curveball 20% of the time this season and it has been highly effective vs LH and RH batters, including a 38% whiff rate. He should have another solid start today.
Update: I Just saw some news about smoke in Chicago? WTF. As of now, I assume the game is clear to go and smoke in the air just means they finish faster.
Gavin Williams (DK: $5900)
Again, I believe you can find the value in hitting and don’t need to take someone who has a ceiling of around 17 points, but 17 is still not too shabby. GW falls into the ‘Royals havent seen him in the big leagues’ so their scouting sucks theory. Plus, his second start going on the road might remove some jitters he saw in his debut last week.
OTHER NOTES
- Joe Ryan, Zac Gallen, Clayton Kershaw, Taj Bradley are all no’s for me. I think Tampa Bay will hit well in Chase Field, so pass on Gallen even if he tempts you. I get the logic given how dominant he is at home.
- No, the Sandy slump buster start is not now, it will be after the all-star break.
- No we’re not gonna touch Julio Teheran, we just let it happen and we should not be sad that we are missing out on it and rather happy that it’s happening.

Brady Singer got to watch his beloved Florida Gators get whooped by LSU last night, which of course, was our lock of the day. Tonight he will either throw 8+ IP with 13 strikeouts or get tossed in the top of the 2nd after giving up 6 ER and getting angry at the umpire for no reason. Jose Ramirez is a ticking time bomb right now and is a must own in my mind. Pick your poison with Naylor and Bell at 1st.
MARLINS

I cited the time that Boston put up 14 on the then Florida Marlins in the first inning at a Fenway game. Doubt we see that today, but picking on Sandy Alcantara isn’t going to hurt you too much, while Miami gets the big time park shift boost here. Wind blowing out to left and whats that noise? Yes, I believe that would be the sounds of smooth Jazz returning tonight.
DODGERS
Mookie, Peralta, Vargas, Rojas
Yes, we have another LA team going into Coors Field and they might lose the series just like the last one did, but of course everyone will only remember the 20+ runs that the Rockies gave up on that one game. The reason anyone sating “hey, this cheap pitcher allows me to fit in coors bats” is stupid is because David Peralta at $3500, Miguel Vargas at $3800 and Miguel Rojas at $2800 have as much upside tonight as anyone. Bottom of the order for the road team is always a nice Coors spot and these prices are just stupid.
