Welcome to Championship Saturday, a great day to be a college football fan with endless games spread out starting at noon and finishing up with two 8pm games tonight.
OKLAHOMA ST vs TEXAS
The first game of the day is likely the one with the most action in it. Texas being -15 is a little generous in my mind and reeks of the Oregon/Washington line, with the exception that I do not see Oklahoma State winning this game like Washington did.
For DFS, we’ll want to figure out the spinning wheel on the Cowboys WR and in my mind be a little cautious with Ollie Gordon. That Texas rush defense is no joke and should be able to bottle him up — but that over focus on their part leads to OKST getting some action through the air and keeping it close.
SMU vs TULANE
We need some magic for this one to pay off, but I sense it in the air. This is not the 2022 Tulane team on defense, so Kevin Jennings making his first start is that magic we need from SMU. He has the athletic ability to cause damage with his legs and really that’s the best path for SMU to do anything against Tulane. But then I stop and wonder … Only a -3 line for the Green Wave? At home? In Yulman? Weird… I sense some fireworks here.
GEORGIA vs ALABAMA
A lot of talk recently about how Georgia hasn’t had to play anyone during their winning streak and that’s kinda true. Guess what, they’ll still be not playing anyone today because Alabama my friends is NOT GOOD. They fucking have a nimrod at Quarterback, but they will get some action through the air. Once Georgia is up 28-3, Bama will make a surge with their RB but ultimately come up short.
CORE OPTIONS
- Jayden Maiava (UNLV, $6800) … I am high on UNLV in general and Maiva has had a 10+ yard rush in each of his last 3 games while totaling 2 TD against Wyoming a few weeks back. All in all, I expect him to use his legs to find a way into the endzone again and while the total yards there won’t be extremely high, the game tempo should be decent enough here to trust him to put up a reasonable score.
- Kevin Jennings (SMU, $6400) … A potential 40 yard rushing day, maybe a rushing TD and plenty of volume in a game that has potential to be very entertaining.
- Quinn Ewers (Texas, $8500) … Usually on the Championship slates we don’t see a ton of bad defenses, but one that’s been really bad away from home is Oklahoma State. So Ewers figures to be a logical pay up guy in a game that I do not think has any chance of not pushing the over/total.

CORE OPTIONS
- Jawhar Jordan (Louisville, $7100) … You can say that Florida States defense is not impacted by the Jordan Travis injury, but you would also be wrnog. Eventually there will be too many turnover on downs scenarios and good field position scenarios for the Louisville offense to capitalize and put the Seminoles out of their misery today. Jordan scores 3 times. Lock it in.
- CJ Baxter (Texas, $5600) … Please, have some Texas exposure today. Please, don’t be stupid. Texas will have some depth at RB this week but Baxters 5600 price really reduces the risk here. Lock him in.
- Kimani Vidal (Troy, $7000) … 20+ carries is expected here for Vidal & App State gave up 60+ rushing TD while ranking 102nd overall against the rush.
- Makhi Hughes (Tulane, $6400) … Tulane probably is a bit of a risky play here, or in their bowl game, but we gotta trust them coming off last season to try and finish strong this season as well. Hughes or Pratt will get it done and logic points to Hughes for his sub 6500 price.
CORE OPTIONS
- Brennan Presley (Oklahoma State, $5500) … These slates where the Cowboys have had multiple WR options tend to lean on Johnson or Owens standing out, but Presley is the play given the stakes here in the B12 title game. I doubt that they do not give him 10+ targets and he should have enough success vs the Longhorns.
- Ricky White (UNLV, $6700) … White see’s nearly 10 targets per game and is likely the highest owned WR on the entire slate in a good passing environment in Vegas.
- Jabre Barber (Troy, $4400) … 25% target rate and a second option along side Vidal in terms of dominating the workload for Troyl.
- Leon Johnson (Oklahoma State, $5000) … Johnson, and even Owens are viable for OK State instead of Pressley. I think it’s spread out so its really a TD roulette spot.
OUR CONTRARIAN WRs
In my view, you cannot play this type of slate and not go contrarian in one of two spots. Either RB or WR. The way the slate breaks down, this is the area to swim in and look at the game in Atlanta for the most upside.
- Ladd McConkey (Georgia, $6400) … I loooove Georgia to roll the tide this week and then Georgia is ousted in the CFB Playoff first round.
- Keon Coleman (Florida State, $5500) … Ignore the QB change and drama here for Florida State. Too much physical talent to not like Coleman.
- Jermaine Burton (Bama, $6100) … Correlate with Ladd
- Cornelius Johnson (Michigan, $4200) … Favorite spot in this game.
