CFB DFS: The Tailgate – Week 6

This slate builds up where it feels like a Stud and Dud salary build on DraftKings.  There is good value at QB, RB and WR that I believe are all valid CORE plays today, so it opens the door to pay up for a low owned stud as well.

These are the top three games, I can make a case for each of them to be #1 and each to be #3 among this group.

PITTSBURGH at NORTH CAROLINA

Neither team is anything to write home about on defense.  Neither team is really interested in playing ground and pound either.  Pittsburgh comes in rested (or rusted?) off a BYE and having beatdown Youngstown State prior to that.  They’ll either Ambush NC or fall behind.  Eitiher way, it should be more Desmond Reid action and both RB are likely to be popular in this game.

  • Pitt:  Desmond Reid, Konata Mumpfield
  • UNC:  Omarion Hampton

WAKE FOREST AT N.C. STATE

Game kinda makes a man want to puke, but I have two core plays in this game.  Shit, I might even stretch it into three core plays.  See below on the write-ups, but this one is definitely not to be overlooked.

  • Wake Forest:  Hank Bachmeier, Taylor Morin
  • NC State:  CJ Bailey, Kevin Concepcion

WEST VIRGINIA at OKLAHOMA STATE

Despite this being the highest total on the board it is not the best full game stack spot.  I respect the Cowboys defense enough and at home to make life difficult for Greene and company.  He is a little under-priced at $8000 given the rushing upside he has though.

  • WVU:  Garrett Greene
  • OKST:  Ollie Gordon, DeZhaun Stribling

SLEEPER GAME

Virginia Tech at Stanford

  • VT:  Kyron Drones, Jaylin Lane
  • STAN:  Micah Ford, Elic Ayomanor

CJ BAILEY – NC State – $5100

So this will potentially be the slate deciding play today.  Your free square value option if Bailey continues to increase his rushing usage (10 carries last week) against a Wake Forest rush defense that has allowed 176 yards on the ground per game so far.  Quarterback is extremely deep today, but a lot of that is the higher end guys being in good spots like Milroe, Allar, Holstein, etc.  They gotta do a lot more work than toothpick Bailey does and the way the Wolfpack’s own defense has regressed they should be giving him the ball back very quickly after Wake Forest marches down the field thesmselves.

GARRETT GREENE – West Virginia – $8000

This game can struggle to get the the total and still have two great plays in it.  If Greene and Gordon both have big rushing days and score in the red zone then they’ll both be really solid plays.  You can tell I am a little lower on Greene than I have been most other weeks, which means he probably drops the hammer with a 40 this week.

  1. DREW ALLAR – Penn State – $8200 … Should be a blowout for the Nittany Lions – but these high noon Fox games have a way of somehow producing some drama so if UCLA’s offense actually does get off the bus then Allar is probably gonna have an extra touchdown here.  I think he has a big game today, not sure if it’s a slate winner though.
  2. KYRON DRONES – VT – $8500 … This is exactly the type of game VT loses in wild fashion in 4 OT or some bullshit like that where the final score is 65-63.

OMARION HAMPTON – North Carolina – $8700

If this was the NFL and we could bet the first TD scorer in the game I would be putting it all on Hampton.  At the end of the day he’ll finish over 100 yards again and have 2 scores.

MICAH FORD – Stanford – $4100

Ford is coming off a huge game and really two big performances in a row.  The Freshman is incredible value at home against VT’s rush defense which has given up 8 touchdowns and 181 ypg this season.

JUSTICE HAYNES – Alabama – $6300

Vanderbilt is back to being a gaping hole on rush defense & Alabama has massive size up front.  Between Haynes and Jam Miller they should combine for 150+ rushing yards and 3+ scores.

  1. Desmond Reid – Pitt – $8300
  2. Trevor Etienne – Georgia – $7000
  3. Quinshon Judkins – Ohio State – $7700
  4. Ollie Gordon – Oklahoma State – $9000

JAYLIN LANE – Virginia Tech – $5700

Fricken Clemson torched Stanford a week ago, and we don’t think Jaylin Lane will do the same this week?  Even though VT doesn’t air it out all game long I do think they’re gonna have extra possessions this week and Lane will see more than his 6.2 target/game average.  Gimme a nice 7-120-2 line this week Jaylin.

KEVIN CONCEPCION – NC State – $6700

Not sure how NC State uses anyone besides KC and Bailey – it should literally be their entire game plan.

TAYLOR MORIN – Wake Forest – $4900

At this rate Morin is going to be teaching classes down at Wake Forest with how long he has been there, but it’s finally his team as WR1 and he has waited long enough to tear up a bad NC State pass defense.

  5. Elic Ayomanor – Stanford – $6400 … Gamestack option

POSITION DEPTH RANKED (For S-FLEX/FLEX Purposes)

  1. QB … This is mostly because of Bailey.  If you lock him in then you should find a stud QB to pair with him in the S-FLEX.
  2. RB
  3. WR
