After many weeks of having a top play overall at low ownership with a few too many snowflakes, today is the day that we put it all together. Today is the day to ride the Tailgate.
This slate features Army, Air Force, a Big Noon Big 10 Showdown, Memphis vs UTSA!, A bunch of fans dressed as hogs in Arkansas — including the Razorbacks, the most overrated rivalry in sports (Bulldogs/Gators), the best color matchup in CFB (Ducks/Wolverines) and … Duke vs Miami…

Three main games that I would focus on this week, which is a balanced slate overall
Memphis at UTSA
Memphis carries this game if it gets there as UTSA is very banged up and might try to slow themselves down a little bit. But we still have the #1 (UTSA) and # 7 (Memphis) teams in plays per game, so with the volume, pace and other variables this one has gotta have lots of DFS points in it.
- MEMPHIS: Seth Henigan, Roc Taylor, Mario Anderson, Demeer Blankumsee
- UTSA: Owen McCown, Robert Henry, Houston Thomas
Indiana at Michigan
Ladies and gentlemen. The B1G game of the day! Oh. Right, that’s the noon game. Well, whatever. Let those fuckers have their punt and field goal fest while we load up on some cheap WR here.
- INDIANA: Elijah Sarratt, Justice Ellison
- SPARTY: Nick Marsh
Texas Tech at Iowa State
And this one feels kinda obvious here. The WR for Iowa state against the 134th ranked pass defense are chalky and gotta have one of them today. Tahj Brooks may go under the radar and we know how easily he can take over a game.
- TTU: Tahj Brooks, Josh Kelly
- ISU: Rocco Becht, Jayden Higgins, Jaylin Noel, Carson Hansen
Bryson Daily (Army – $9200) … The Army single threat QB has over 2 rushing TD per game and draws an Air Force defense allowing over 2 rushing TD per game. Simple math says we’re all gonna project him to have 25+ fpts as his floor. For a slate with depth at Quarterback you can consider this your first chalk decision of the day, and per the rules on DraftKings AND FanDuel, they allow you to play two Quarterbacks last I checked. So, thus, they allow you to not be a bozo here.
Seth Henigan (Memphis – $7600) … Memphis was an early let down in the year but back to back solid offensive weeks and 3 out of 4 good games from Henigan and the Tigers offense has me back on their bandwagon. The tempo should be great at UTSA. This is enough of a nod to use Henigan and a very under priced Roc Taylor in builds today. Owen McCown (UTSA – $6100) is a nice run it back option for UTSA and yes, he is related to Josh McCown (son)
Also do not mind
- Avery Johnson (Kansas State) – The pivot off Daily
- Rocco Becht (Iowa State) – The other pivot off Henigan besides McCown
This is not a deep RB slate. Which adds merit to using two Quarterbacks in every build and then four receivers with that nice sweet PPR scoring we have on DraftKings. This also points out that you can strongly consider going away off the reservation today with your RB selections. RJ Harvey is in a great, what folks like to say, “smash” spot. He dominates at home, he is facing a middle of the road rush defense and he doesn’t suck. But I wouldn’t say Harvey is a must over Army QB Bryson Daily for paying up. So quickly after him there is not another RB within $900 on DraftKings, and that next guy Darius Taylor and Minnesota have a tempting matchup vs Illinois, but a game I think the home team is able to control and limit scoring chances for an 8k+ RB. Tahj Brooks, Mario Anderson (chalky) and Henry Parrish are viable candidates, but none really pull as gotta play them spots. So here’s my favorite “Cheap/MID” RB’s today …
Trevor Etienne (Georgia – $6500) … One guy to dabble in with this ugly fest game in the SEC.
Star Thomas (Duke – $5900) … If Manny Diaz returns to Miami and suddenly stops running the ball then fire this guy directly into the Sun. Actually, Miami fans probably want to fire him directly into the Sun just at the thought of him returning.
Justice Ellison (Indiana – $5200) … Correlates with one of my favorite cheap WR plays in a game that nobody will touch — expect the Ambush crew.
Robert Henry (UTSA – $4000) … We can do much worse for $4k.
Roc Taylor (Memphis – $6300) … Sometimes you have to hitch your wagon to a specific play and say my team is on the floor like you are Norman Dale. That’s me, that’s Roc Taylor, and that’s my guy. Who the hell does the University of Texas San Antonio have that they think can guard him. And who the hell goes to San Antonio? Charles Barkley is right, trash town. Seriously though, their banged up bad and the secondary should wear down very quickly. If Taylor doesn’t have 100 yards then fire everyone on Memphis
Jayden Higgins (Iowa State – $6700) … While Memphis/UTSA should have tons of possessions in it, so too should Texas Tech and Iowa State. Back to the air with Higgins and Jaylin Noel likely seeing a high volume of usage here.
Nick Marsh (Michigan State – $4000) … What is the best game of the day that nobody is hyping up? Indiana versus mother effin Michigan State my friends. The Freshman Marsh is coming on for Sparty with his first TD under his belt last week and no game with under 10 yards per catch. Expect 4+ catches, 60+ yards and a cheap salary giving him the #1 value spot on the board.
THE ALSO DONT MIND LIST
- Andrew Armstrong (Arkansas – $6600)
- Elijah Sarratt (Indiana – $5600)
- Tez Johnson (Oregon – $7700)
- Xavier Restrepo (Miami – $7000)
- Jaylin Noel (Iowa State – $5900)
- Houston Thomas (UTSA – $3200) … Replaces Oscar Cardenas as TE1
