Well, the moment of truth is here. It’s “rivalry” weekend around Baseball and school is out in some areas and while the official start of summer is still a ways off we do have a holiday weekend coming up next weekend and now is the time to draw fans out to the ballparks.
Lets see if my overs theory comes true.
WEATHER
- ATL at BOS: Slight chance of showers, more likely later in the game.
- NYM at NYY: Same deal here, more likely to get a light drizzle that they play through
- COL at ARI: Roof OPEN
We are not starved of some quality pitchers and especially of the southpaw side. Crochet, Ragans, Gore, Sale. Four of which are guys I always like and then there is … Carlos fricken Rodon against the Mets? Oh man, if ever there was a series to spike things up with a 13-10 final, that would be it.
MACKENZIE GORE (DK: $8600, FD: $9700)
I don’t love that Baltimore is home after another home series – but Gore is settled in and the Orioles are far from that. They look like a team just waiting for the manager to get fired & have hit just .175 against LHP over the last 10 days with 1 – yes 1 home run. Basically until Mountcastle and O’Neill get hot, you can use a lefty against them.
JOE RYAN (DK: $9500, FD: $10.2k)
Someone who has long been a nemesis of mine. The Twins lost two core guys last night who are always injured, so run support could disappear in what was going to be a nice spot for them offensively. They’ll have to get Ryan’s gems to continue to keep their long streak alive.
OVER-HYPED PITCHERS vs BAD TEAMS
Go through the entire slate tonight and identify two pitchers in the same price range that fit this criteria. Yep, you got it. It is as clear as day that these two are going to be considered by many and used by none. We should be buying into that as well, and I would play them together to be honest if you did go here. Why? They save you a ton of $ to stack the pricey teams (i.e. Mets, Yankees, Dodgers). I like, nor trust, either long term. But they’re both really solid options for getting you a 15-18 point outting for minimal price.
- TAJ BRADLEY (DK: $7000, FD: $8500)
- DUSTIN MAY (DK: $7200, FD: $8200)
JUST MISSED THE CUT
- JACK FLAHERTY (DK: $8000, FD: $8700 … Jack is coming off a rough start vs the Rangers of all teams. He only got 11% ground balls and naturally wound up giving up a ton of homers. If that happens again tonight in the hitter friendly Toronto then good night and enjoy the -10 score. But if he gets the grounders and is back on he’ll be a bargain.
- LOGAN WEBB & JP SEARS … This is low key one of the best games on the night in my mind. But it’ll be the Giants taking care of business offensively.

METS
Lindor, Soto, Vientos, Marte
I believe this game without a doubt will be a double digit total and the better side is the Mets depth.
MARINERS
JP Crawford, Jorge Polanco, Julio Rodriguez
When these two teams meet it always feels like the road team thrives. Maybe getting out of cold and dreary Seattle and into Sunny San Diego has something to do with it. I dunno, but call me crazy, however I think going from pink haired starbucks girls with nose rings and a bad attitude in overalls and a hoodie to thong bikinis might have something to do with it as well.
Oh, Stephen Kolek is not going to pitch another gem. The babip, runners left on base and not playing Colorado and Pittsburgh luck runs out tonight.
DIAMONDBACKS
The Rockies could be deciding the Pope tonight and I don’t think I would trust them to get out of the first 3 innings without allowing 7 runs.
TIGERS
Carpenter, Greene
Can they string enough big innings together? The Tigers just find a way late in games recently as well.
GIANTS
A great late night hammer spot here. Giants are rolling offensively finally & hitting LHP well.
