WEATHER
I would expect both of these games get played. The rain should not be enough to PPD them.
- Rays at Mets: Rain showers throughout the day
- Angels at Orioles: Similar here.
If you are tall, caucasion, throw right handed and like to throw really hard then please report to the pitchers mound at 4:05 PM today because apparantley there is a convention among all those guys who like to fall into the same category. Wait, why is Tomoyuki Sugano on the mound? Uh, sir… You have the wrong conference.
Yes, we have Strider, we have deGrom, we have Megill, we have Lorenzen, we have Rasmussen and we have Brown vs Ryan in Houston. A who’s who of tall RHP and then you have a few lefties mixed in along with the token Asian, Mr. Sugano.
JACOB deGROM (DK: $10,300, FD: $10,500)
Ah yes. Mr deGrom likely chalk against the White Sox. What could possibly go wrong here? We cannot play or gamble in fear, if you do then you are already losing. the little blip that deGrom had at home vs the Jays & Cardinals where he got almost no strikeouts over 11 innings seems to be just that — a blip or a glitch in the Matrix. The White Sox are hitting RHP okay but still have a 20%+ K rate over the last 10 days in this split & Tauchman/Meidroth have cooled off. If there is not a 1-2-3 strike out the side inning early here I would be shocked.
HUNTER BROWN (DK: $10,900, FD: $10,800)
I like Ryan as well and would definitely justify using him on FanDuel for a larger discount. These two should each have good strikeout games, and the lean has to go with Brown because when in doubt — attack the stupid Twins.
TYLOR MEGILL (DK: $8300, FD: $8800) & DREW RASMUSSEN (DK: $7800, FD: $8900)
I have concerns about an in game rain delay for both Rasmussen and Tylor Megill. Otherwise, those two are your ones to take a shot on, it’s not that warm up in NYC and Rasmussen is good enough to tame the Mets. His K upside isnt what Megill’s could be here so Megill gets the nod on my rankings, but I like them both and would only go here for a cheaper SP2. One could justify just doing a SP game stack as well and hoping that the rain holds off.
OTHER PITCHING THOUGHTS
- Obviously we are paying up on pitching today, there’s just too many high end guys not too. One other one I considered is Cristopher Sanchez, but he’s likely to see 9 RHH and not projected to have anywhere near the K upside ceiling as the other studs.
- Under absolutely ZERO circumstances would I give Mr. Sugano any consideration today to repeat the Charlie Morton magic from last night. Do not do it.
- No Strider until after the All-Star break. I made this determination last week and will stick by it.
- Way too hot in KC to touch Lorenzen.

CARDINALS / BREWERS
Hoskins, Yelich, Chourio, Arenado, Contrerases
Really like both sides here, Cardinals ratings aren’t as high as they should be on the model but they hit LHP well & the Brewers should smack Pallante — who has faced Chourio 5 times and walked him 4 and allowed a hit the other time. Milwaukee is probably the better “stack” and the Cards are good to mix in. This game is going over.
BRAVES
The way to attack the Braves is not with fastballs. Unfortunately, Mr. Dollander really doesn’t have much else to trust right now and cannot make it through the Braves lineup twice today, which means more Rockies bullpen and more Braves random homers.
