Happy Fathers Day! I got my haircut this week and there was some woman on the TV talking about how all Dad’s want for Father’s Day is to spend time with their children. She clearly had no idea that Yusei Kikuchi was pitching on Father’s Day. What a horrible assessment of what Dads want.
WEATHER
All games play
MACKENZIE GORE (DK: $10.3k, FD: $10.4k)
The Marlins are projected to have a full RH lineup today & that walks right into a higher strikeout spot for Gore in a game where the ball is not likely going to travel far when it is hit. He should be as safe as they come.
ZACK WHEELER (DK: $11k, FD: $10.8k)
I love Gore, I always have. He’s fine today and is definitely the #1 if you like it safe. But there’s this sneaky suspicion the man who comes out and throws 9 innings, 13 strikeouts, 0 ER and just breezes through in a 2-0 game is just up I-95 in Philadelphia. It’s enough for me to consider going double Aces on a Sunday with some cheap value bats mixed around them. If you have one lineup, get Gore/Wheeler and flip off the chalk SP2s. If you have two lineups, make Wheeler the Ace on the second one for sure because this has more upside than any pitcher I’ve felt in a while.
YUSEI KIKUCHI (DK: $7400, FD: $8500)
No Mountcastle here so Kikuchi should have less fears about pitching vs the Orioles. This would be two solid starts for him in one week though, so yeah there’s concern from me in that regard, however the birds have too many easy holes for him to get through today to have a horrible game. At this price we’re likely hoping for a 6+ strikeout game and that should pay off ok.
GRANT HOLMES (DK: $7800, FD: $8200)
Dude just isnt that good either – but bad SP vs bad offense. Something has to give here, right?
OTHER PITCHING THOUGHTS
- MAX FRIED will get the Yankees a win today. But Max Fried is not going to touch anywhere near the double digit strikeout mark that Gore can touch.
- Colin Rea could pitch well and you are still giving up 16-18 points to the field on the top SP2 options. No thanks.

ASTROS
—- UPDATE: Houston has a PUNT lineup today. Great value, maybe not the best “stack” though. It works with the SP Ace Combo however.
Paredes, Altuve, Walker
Not only does Simeon Woods Richardson have arguably the worst name in the history of Baseball, he has proven to not really be that good of a Major League Pitcher either. His first start back in the bigs he gave up 7 hits in 4 2/3 IP against the lowly Rangers offense. Now, we expect him to go into Houston on a Sunday and get through Paredes/Altuve/Diaz/Walker? No chance, Lance — or Tree Dicks, whatever your name is.
BREWERS
Chourio, Yelich, Frelick, Turang
We go right back to Milwaukee where tempers are flaring and the reverse blowout theory comes into play. Miles Mikolas has been awful lately and probably should just come up with some bullshit excuse to get scratched today. He gives up runs early.
RAYS / METS
Lowe & Lowe, Nimmo & Alonso
Death. Taxes. Citi Field Sundays. Death. Taxes. Brandon Lowe and Pete Alonso both homering on Sunday’s in the Northeast.
BRAVES
Riley, Ozuna, Murphy
For at least two innings today the Braves offense is going to look like they should, racking up singles, doubles and homers. Just don’t tilt when its through 3 innings and they haven’t done it yet. They’ll get there…
