CFB DFS: The Tailgate – Week 0

SLATE SUMMARY

Key Injury Monitoring:

  • Stanford WR JonAnthony Hall (QUESTIONABLE) – True freshman expected to play a big role but dealing with undisclosed injury, kept out of majority of fall camp and absent from first depth chart
  • Kansas C Bryce Foster (PROBABLE) – All-Big 12 center returned to practice after early camp injury, expected ready for Week 0
  • Sam Houston QB Hunter Watson (PROBABLE) – Missed previous game but projected to start against Western Kentucky
  • Clean Bills of Health: Hawaii reports no injuries heading into Stanford matchup Stanford Cardinal 2025 Injuries

Hawaii vs Stanford (O/U 50.5)

Hawaii at home always looks tempting and Stanford was a horrible team last year who shouldn’t improve much.  But yeah, the Andrew Luck GM factor is in play here folks, dont sleep on a Stanford upset — which really just puts this as a possible game stack spot.

  • Micah Alejado (QB)
  • Pofele Ashlock (WR)
  • Nick Cenacle (WR)
  • Ben Gulbranson (QB) – SFLEX game stack

Sam Houston vs Western Kentucky (O/U 61.5)

Western Kentucky has a high amount of turnover on the offensive side of the ball and will feature a new Quarterback, who comes over with a new OC as well — both from the same school.  Maybe he is quiet early, but I doubt it and with the tempo they should play at you are hard pressed for hoping he doesn’t eventually finish as a top 2 Quarterback.

Meanwhile, I had enough of Sam Houston last year and think they went up too high in their transfer to the big stage and will come down today.  Give me the Hilltoppers even at good ownership today.

  • Maverick McIvor (QB)
  • KD Hutchinson (WR)
  • Matthew Henry (WR)

QUARTERBACK RANKINGS

  1. Maverick McIvor (WKU) – $8,100 – Should be a high paced game and he will get plenty of opportunities.
  2. Micah Alejado (Hawaii) – $8,500 –  Elite ceiling with clean injury report and home field advantage

RUNNING BACK RANKINGS

  1. Daniel Hishaw Jr. (Kansas) – $4,900 – Should benefit from healthy offensive line and his main threat is just Daniels keeping one in himself, but I don’t see the Jayhawks having much of a challenge from Fresno State.
  2. LaVell Wright (WKU) – $6,500
  3. Bryson Donelson (Fresno State) – $6,000

WIDE RECEIVER RANKINGS

  1. Matthew Henry (WKU) – $5,800 – Henry is my top must play today.  Why?  Look, it’s just a little hunch play here, but he is slightly taller than Hutchinson and McIver had success with tall WR at ACU.  Hutch does get the volume work likely from the slot but Henry could have a 50 yard touchdown down the sideline on a jump ball and I want him for sure.
  2. Pofele Ashlock (Hawaii) – $6,300 and Nick Cenacle (Hawaii) – $5,600 – Legit considering just playing both guys here with thin options at WR and banking on the Hawaii passing game doing a heavy amount of volume.
  3. KD Hutchinson (WKU) – $5,900

DEEPEST POSITION FOR SFLEX:

  • Wide Receiver

FAVORITE BETS:

  • Kanasas -13
  • Stanford ML
  • Western Kentucky -10
