The Dongers Club – April 13th

WEATHER

Red Sox at Twins:  This is a PPD risk, and certainly a delay risk.  Storm changes are high here and it’s the first game of a series where they have a day game on Wednesday and both teams are off Thursday.  Neither team will mind if this is PPD.

Guardians at Cardinals:  Could be some fireworks in this game.

PAUL SKENES (DK: $9500)

Who are The Washington Nationals and the Minnesota Twins.  Two teams who are actually connected to each other historically.  You’re like.  Uh, what?  What the hell does that have to do with Paul Skenes?

No, I haven’t started drinking yet.  Wait, what time are you reading this?  You see.  The Nationals and the Twins are the answer (or the question?) to a Jeopardy question (or the answer?) right now for the MLB season.  And that answer is ‘Theyre the teams who won a bunch of games in April but still finished dead fucking last’.

So, yeah, the Nationals are a fun team right now.  Jimmy Wood has his swing back on track . Brady House, CJ Abrams are hitting decent.  Nasim Nunez makes good plays at short.  Their manager is competent.

This doesn’t mean that we cannot lock f’n button Paul Skenes for $9500 at home where he will NOT give up a HR tonight, he WILL strike out 6 batters and he will pitch 6 full innings.  His ceiling score is not a 100, but his floor score is.  He’s DK #1 play.

CRISTOPHER SANCHEZ (DK: $9800)

Here is your ceiling play today.  His change-up is where the Cubs are likely to not get much damage done.  Bregman, Hoerner, Suzuki, Happ, Swanson, Shaw — all take a big dip here & finally going on the road away from Wrigley has been a dip for the historical Cubs here in prior seasons too.  Sanchez got hit a lot in San Francisco, he should get locked back in tonight.

EURY PEREZ (DK: $8300, FD: $8500)

Perez gets nearly 30% whiff rate on his slider against lefties.  With Olson, Albies & Baldwin likely being free swinging tonight I like his chances of being able to get out of any jams he puts himself in with walks.  And if you are aware of the Braves dropping double digits last night on a showdown slate, then you surely should know that they’re the exact type of team who is gonna follow that up with a 2 run performance tonight

FANDUEL OPTIONS

FanDuel is not including the 6pm window of games on their MAIN slate, where as DraftKings did.  This means the top SP options above cannot be used on FanDuel Main.  For FD I would rank the options as follows.

  1. Eury Perez
  2. Garrett Crochet:  With PPD risk here.

AND THEN THERE’S THIS GUY

  • YUSEI KIKUCHI:  versus …. The Yankees.  A team he seems to get amped up for and nobody really knows why.  Maybe he like pinstripe.  It remind him of chopping head of duck on Christmas.  C’mon.  We’re not going here.  No need.

ORIOLES

Some risk, but high reward for an Orioles stack as they are going to be getting a ton of fastballs from Ryne Nelson & should be able to do damage when they connect on them.  Alonso has hit him hard when he connects & the trio of Basallo, Beavers & Cowser behind the Polar Bear is insane good value for a night with some high end pitching going.  The Diamondbacks also have no LHP in their pen to combat that trio.

  • Pete Alonso
  • Samuel Basallo
  • Dylan Beavers
  • Colton Cowser

RANGERS / ATHLETICS

Severino is back in Sacramento for home games once again.  He has enjoyed some road games thus far and so I think he is gonna soon be making a trip to the IL once he remembers what it’s like pitching in the hospital ball park.

  • Brandon Nimmo
  • Evan Carter
  • Corey Seager

CATCHER

  1. Samuel Basallo
  2. Carson Kelly
  3. Carlos Narvaez

FIRST BASE

The upside of Alonso is being in my top stack, but Goldy is the best value play.  It’s a big drop off after that unless you wanna bank on someone like Nick Kurtz having a heater now.

  1. Pete Alonso
  2. Paul Goldschmidt
  3. Mark Vientos

SECOND BASE

  1. Ildemaro Vargas
  2. Amed Rosario
  3. Juan Brito

THIRD BASE

  1. Jose Ramirez
  2. Nolan Arenado:  Birthday week is here.
  3. Nolan Gorman

SHORTSTOP

  1. Gunnar Henderson
  2. Corey Seager
  3. Francisco Lindor

OUTFIELD – Mt. Rushmore

  1. Colton Cowser
  2. Brandon Marsh:  Going a little sneaky here.  They get another sinker-baller, but I love the Marsh value behind Schwarber/Harper after they walk
  3. Evan Carter
  4. Mike Trout

OUTFIELD – Tier II

  1. Giancarlo Stanton
  2. Ronald Acuna Jr.
  3. Brandon Nimmo
  4. Teoscar Hernandez
  5. Dylan Beavers

  1. Colton Cowser – OF – Baltimore Orioles – Chairman of The Dongers Club
  2. Pete Alonso – 1B – Orioles
  3. Sam Basallo – C – Orioles
  4. Jose Ramirez – 3B – Guardians
  5. Corey Seager – SS – Rangers
