CBB DFS – Round 1 – March 19th

Couple things to note before we get into the first four days of the tournament as these are my feelings on teams/conferences in general.

  • The Big 12 is the conference that people are sleeping on and it is better than the Big 10 top to bottom/
  • The ACC sucks
  • Not as many upsets day 1 and 2, but HUGE chance of upsets on day 3 and 4 (The round 32)

Games that I have very little interest in today

  • Drexel vs Illinois
  • Utah State vs Texas Tech
  • Oregon State vs Tennessee … Tempting but just two slow teams not worth it on big slate.  Good on a small 4 game slate though to game stack
  • Hartford vs Baylor … Will be over 10 mins in
  • Cleveland State vs Houston
  • North Texas vs Purdue
  • Morehead St vs WVU … WVU is always jeckyl and hyde but for now I’ll pass
  • Rutgers vs Clemson

So there, we crossed off 8 of the games to consider if we’re building 1-10 lineups today…  Now let’s cover the best game stack spots out there

Tier 1 Games

Colgate vs Arkansas:  The slate begins with a massive paced match-up and this one will be popular for sure.

  • Colgate:   Value is on Colgate side, but I honestly think Arkansas can cover the -8.5
    • Jordan Burns:  This game is not going over without him having a huge game
    • Keegan Records:  Should hit value off rebounding alone
  • Arkansas:
    • Moses Moody
    • Justin Smith
    • Davonte Davis
    • Jalen Tate – The wild card here, I wouldn’t mind playing him naked in this game.

Oral Roberts vs Ohio State:  Upset alert of the day.  Oral Roberts keeps this one close.

  • Oral Roberts:
    • Max Abmas
    • Kevin Obanor
  • Ohio State
    • EJ Lidell
    • CJ Walker
    • Duane Washington – Will be lower owned, nice pivot off Lidell for Ohio State exposure as in a close game he would have to see usage go up.

Virginia Tech vs Florida:  Might be one of my favorite games today.  High chance of OT in this one

  • Virginia Tech:  They have a small rotation and good pricing.
    • Tyrese Radford
    • Keve Aluma:  Has chance to break the slate, but pricey.  Not a main lineup play but in the GPP Upside category
    • Justyn Mutts
  • Florida
    • Tre Mann
    • Tyree Appleby

Tier 2 Games

Liberty vs Oklahoma State:   Liberty is a sneaky draw against Okie State, the problem here is Cade is 10k which is tough outside of a game stack

  • Liberty:
    • Darius McGhee
    • Kyle Rode
    • Elijah Cuffee
  • Oklahoma State
    • Cade – 10k, tough for main lineup
    • Avery Anderson III – Love his price
    • Moncreiffe

Wisconsin vs North Carolina:   UNC bigs could have a big game here, but they rotate so much it’s hard to lock one in

  • Wisconsin
    • D’Mitric Trice
  • North Carolina
    • Garrison Brooks – Only $5600!  Great discount for their veteran big.

Winthrop vs Villanova:  Nova plays zero defense this year, and also has a limited rotation themselves.

  • Winthrop
    • Chandler Vaudrin
  • Villanova
    • JRE – Will be 5% owned at best and has to drop 35+ for them to win.
    • Jermaine Samuels
    • Justin Moore

Tier 3 Spots

Georgia Tech:   With Moses Wright out we see a potential risky value in Rodney Howard ($3900) open up and I would expect Jordan Usher to hit value.

Loyola-Illinois:   Cam Krutwig could go off with no interior D on Georgia Tech

Syracuse:   Buddy Boeheim

San Diego State:   Nathan Mensah, Matt Michell, Jordan Shackel

FAVORITE PLAYS

Max Abams – Oral Roberts

D’Mtric Trice – Wisconsin

Tyrese Radford – Virginia Tech

Moses Moody – Arkansas … This whole game is obviously the chalk.

Avery Anderson III – Oklahoma State

FAVORITE VALUE

This is where the slate kind of lacks IMO, if you take some value darts on a heavy favorite then good luck to you on that.  The winning formula in the tournament in years past is to get a balanced CORE lineup.  So stay in the 6k to 7k range for most players and then pick your one pay up.

Kyle Rode, Keegan Records, Austin Williams, Thomas Bell
