NHL Slapshot – Tue, March 23rd

What you need to know!

FIVE!

FIVE GAME!

FIVE GAME SLATE TONIIIIGHT!

C’mon.  Who doesn’t remember the old Subway commercial?  Some things just stick in your head and you cannot forget them I guess.  Like the Red Wings absolutely owning the city of Nashville even though the city of Nashville didn’t even have a hockey team when the Red Wings were last dominant.  But that’s a conversation for another day when we want to go into the greatness that was the Russian Red Wings of the 90’s.  In fact, the Red Wings big run kind of ended when the Preds came into existance…  So maybe we have some insight into who actually bombed the city of Nashville?  Do the Red Wings fans hate Nashville?  Do Russian’s hate Carrie Underwood?  I think we have many questions and little answers.

Slapshot appreciation contest begins tomorrow.  So be sure to come back and read tomorrow’s completely out of nowhere introduction for that.

TODAYS STACKS

DETROIT RED WINGS

This ain’t amateur hour here folks I had a method to my madness in the introduction.  The Preds are bad on penalty kill and although Larkin doesn’t have his FWD1 guys with him, I would look to pair them up (Mantha preferred) to go with a full stack in a spot where I like Detroit to score 4+ goals.  Something they don’t exactly do often.

Dylan Larkin – Anthony Mantha – Filip Hronek (D)

PHILADELPHIA FLYERS

Welcome to Flyers chalk night.  Short slate and Flyers going up against the Devils but on their home ice.  Coots and JVR or Hayes and Konecny is the build to start with here with exposure to Ghost or Provorov as well.  Given how bad the Devils have been against LW, the Coots-JVR play is the one to look at first.

Couturier – JVR – Ghost

PANTHERS VS BLACKHAWKS

Best game stack of the night by a mile.  For a main lineup player though I would make this your game to fade on a shorter five game slate.  Florida is capable of winning a 3-2 game here which could kill lineups that full stack it considering Kane is $7,300 and Barkov is $8,300.  It’s a fade spot for stacking on main lineup for me.

Barkov or Kane as a one off

SKATER RANKINGS

CENTERS

  1. Dylan Larkin (DET) … Trust me, he was my #1 before I looked at the model.  Then again, I did create the model so like father, like … model?
  2. Aleksander Barkov (FLA) … Four games vs Chicago he is averaging 25+ points per game.  Pricey, but a nice one off IMO.
  3. Sean Couturier (PHI)

WINGS

  1. Filip Forsberg (NSH)
  2. Anthony Mantha (DET)
  3. Gabriel Landeskog (COL)
  4. James van Riemsdyk (PHI)
  5. Kyle Palmieri (NJ)

DEFENSE

  1. Shayne Gostisbehere (PHI)
  2. Filip Hronek (DET)
  3. Cale Makar (COL) … Still too cheap
  4. Duncan Keith (CHI)

GOALIES

  1. Carter Hart (PHI) … Hello?  McFly?  This thing on?  If Hart doesn’t put up a 25+ save < 2 goal allowed win tonight then just shut him down so he doesn’t turn into Rick DiPietro.
  2. Jake Oettinger (DAL) .. Stars are my sleeper pick tonight to win vs Lightning.
