Happy Random Tuesday. Big fourteen game slate tonight with a few potential rain spots and a ton of hitting options. It might feel like a stack night but keeping with tonights random theme I have implemented a cool rule for the Dongers Club Appreciation Contset tonight. Read it below and make sure you put that lineup into SOMETHING when it does go off.
May Dongers Club Appreciation Contest: Round Three
Entry Link:
Tonight’s Rule:
- Random Tuesday Alert! Tonight’s Rule for the May Contest: You cannot have more than 1 player from a team in your lineup. So both pitchers and all 8 hitters must be from a different team. 10 one offs
WEATHER
- Pirates at Cardinals has some showers which could pose a delay threat. We have no desire for anything in this game so let’s just move along now.
- Some rain in Wrigley, Minnesota and Kansas City as well but I suspect both are fine here.
- The roof should be closed in Texas due to rain
- The roof should be closed in Seattle due to rain

Jameson Taillon (DK/FD)
Canadien parents, Florida born but Texas made. Jameson Taillon will be returning to the state where he pitched in high school and I have no problems going right back to the well picking on the Rangers for some strikeouts tonight. This slate does not have dominant pitching up top but it does have extremely favorable hitting conditions, so I expect an 18-22 point performance to be more than substantial tonight and J.T. should provide that.
Justin Dunn (DK/FD)
Justin Dunn is going to get you the same result as Blake Snell tonight. Why do I draw this comparison? Because Snell hasn’t pitched a full 6 innings since July! July of 2019!!!! We gotta call a spade a spade and even though Snell might appear a solid option today against Colorado, he’s just not someone who is going to dominate for 6+ innings. So why spend $8900 on a chalky pitcher when you get the exact same type of match-up with equal strike-out upside against the Tigers for $6,300? Boom, I just avoided needing to use a cheap $4,000 Kris Bubic who might go 5 IP at best. Thanks.
Brandon Woodruff (DK/FD)
There’s a stretch tonight where Woodruff likely goes on a strikeout run getting 5 or 6 in a row and there’s a chance he can do it twice. The Royals outside of Benintendi have been much better statistically at home but they’re rolling him in the #3 hole and the 5-9 hitters all look like strikeout spots against Woodruff tonight. He’s been great and should continue to be above 30% on a strikeout ratio tonight.
Quick takes on others I am not using
- Kris Bubic: He had started as RP this season to keep his innings down but has gone over 80 pitches last two starts, so at $4,000 can he get 2-3x? Absolutely, is that enough tonight to make me lock him in? No.
- Blake Snell: Read above! 6 IP ceiling. No thank you.
- Zack Wheeler: The Marlins own the Phillies like the Saints own the Falcons
- Spencer Turnbull: Pitching very well, but relies a ton on ground balls and this is a faster infield than what he’s used too in Detroit

TAMPA BAY RAYS
Meadows, Choi, Lowe
Tampa scores 8 if not 9 runs today as the chalkiest team on the slate and it’s not just Matt Harvey that we are picking on. The weather is warmer in Baltimore and Tampa continues to show that they’re a good offense when they get on the road in warm and small parks. Meadows, Choi, Lowe 2-3-4 sets up as a murders row tonight. Austin Meadows on a 14 game slate likely could be 50% owned and he deserves every part of it because he does not suck.
METS vs BRAVES (Garbage Pitchers Game)

These teams are going with openers and two of the names mentioned to come in are Thomas Szapucki and Tucker Davidson. No, seriously. I am not making these names up. I would never make up random bullshit player names like Tony Graffanino which clearly was a real baseball player at one time, right? Anyways, uh, pay no attention to starters or splits here, this is more just riding that when Atlanta goes off, they go off so a 4-5 man Braves stack is great and we’re in great hitting conditions here as well to like Pete Alonso going yard-work
Sincerely,
Pete Alonso’s Whisperer
RED SOX vs JAYS
The wind is slated to be blowing IN heavily (18-20 mph) but it has shown to be a little erratic at times, keep an eye on this spot for the wind shifting and making it a Coors Field like spot to consider. But both E-Rod and Ryu should have a hard time striking out a ton of hitters today so the ball will be in play and we’ve got two of the better offenses in baseball. Too good to overlook.
SNEAKY STACKS
MARLINS
Marlins beating Phillies, a tradition unlike any other. Duvall, Dickerson, Chissholm, Aguilar
MARINERS
Turnbull as I mentioned is going to probably suffer some bad luck BABIP tonight. It’s just his style and the Mariners young kids should get to him + Kyle Seager really profiles well in this spot. Love the 1-4 of Kelenic/Haniger/Seager/Lewis as a very affordable value stack to pair with a high priced team.
TWINS
Day later theory when one team gets blown out one game they come back the next and reverse the score. Kepler playing would be a huge boost here. Like, massive bulge in the pants type boost. Better than Tony Graffanino on a Tuesday boost.

CATCHER
- Gary Sanchez … Stiff price to pay on DK, but FD he’s rock solid
- Mike Zunino . . .
- Tomas Nido … 2900 catcher in Atlanta for one of the top stacks on the slate. That’s neato! Yes, I need a drink-o some Nido Vino…
FIRST BASE
- Pete Alonso
- Freddie Freeman … Only as part of 4+ Braves
- Ji-Man Choi
SECOND BASE
- Ozzie Albies
- Brandon Lowe
- Joey Wendle
THIRD BASE
Not much I like at the hot corner tonight so get weird here for sure. Villar is 3B eligible for the Mets on both sites, so he makes the most sense to pivot over here or play only guys with good ISO/SLG upside. Or Maikel Franco.

- Austin Riley
- Maikel Franco
- Alex Bregman
