Main Slate breakdown – Dicey slate tonight with just the 6 games and a bunch of pitchers who are limited/openers.
The Giants are starting Scott Kazmir — yes, that Scott Kazmir. The Phillies are starting Spencer Howard on a limited basis. The Padres have a combination of Lamet and Weathers going. The Cardinals are starting Miles Mikolas in a limited spot and Shane McLanahahananahahahahahah has to face the Jays for about 20 minutes before becoming a corpse. Fun times.
Nathan Eovaldi
The hottest hitter on the Phillies right now is Jean Segura and he shouldn’t hit Eovaldi at all. Bryce Harper is ice cold and Alec Bohm isn’t going to be an issue for Nate either. So that leaves just Rhys Hoskins as the single threat and even if Eovaldi does give up 2 HR tonight he will still finish with 7-8 strikeouts in my mind, giving him a solid floor.
Chris Bassitt
Choices are limited but the Angels lineup is trash enough to be picked on with Bassit.
My FADE
Walker Buehler
Buehler and Robbie Ray are the only pitchers tonight that I can see getting over 20+ DK fantasy points and between the two I have more confidence in Buehler even in a tough match-up vs the Giants. They’re weak enough that he should get through 6 innings and get around 20 DK points. You do not have to force him in though and given how popular he should be, he’s unlikely to be my main lineup guy because I’ll take that kind of leverage on a slate like this every time.
Blue Jays
They’re hot and when the Jays are hot and getting a LHP they’re an automatic consideration.
Tampa Rays
One of the worst teams vs LHP lately has been Tampa, but four guys will hit Robbie Ray tonight. Arozarena, Diaz, Margot and Brosseaux.
Red Sox
Howard the sucks on the mound for Philadelphia tonight and not for very long and then more Phillies bullpen action.
