The Dongers Club – July 1st

There are five new series which are starting up tonight among the 7 games as this is a sneak peak into the glory that is Friday’s slate.  The new series include

  • Dodgers at Nationals:  Oh well this should just be Bellirific if you ask me…
  • Brewers at Pirates:  LiPNC
  • Astros at Indians: LiC
  • Cardinals at Rockies:   NiC
  • Giants at Diamondbacks:   Splish Splash

WEATHER & STUFF

Chance of rain in Milwaukee/Pittsburgh and Dodgers/Nationals games, with the DC game being the worse of the two, but good chance they both go.

Corbin Burnes

The Pirates struggled to score runs in Coors Field and now must come home to contend with Corbin Burnes.  Sure, naturally they’ll probably have bases loaded in the first inning tonight but I can’t see them having a path to sustained success against the rock solid Burnes.

Johnny Cueto

Cueto is a pitcher who seems to thrive in Arizona, prior to his last start there this year he has consistently performed in Chase Field and with the way the Diamondbacks cannot hit right now I have no problems going to him for the best value arm going even though he’s above $7,000

Framber Valdez

Like Burnes Valdez is actually facing a team who doesn’t give him a boost in strikeout upside, but like Burnes he is sub 10k and should get through 6 innings without much damage against him while facing a weaker lineup.  I prefer going with Burnes and Valdez over deGrom tonight.

Houston Astros

Alvarez, Tucker, Brantley, Yuli, Torro

Who gets shut out at home by the Orioles?  The Astros, that’s who.  Like I said last week and was mocked for it, this team fucking plays down to their competition but will be in a ballpark they historically love and facing a better opponent tonight in the Indians — needing to wipe the stench off of not beating up on the Orioles the Astros will drop 10+ runs in one of these games this weekend & I’m not gonna miss it.

St. Louis Cardinals

Arenado, Goldschmidt, Carlson, O’Neill

The Cardinals + deGrom is going to be popular and I have this feeling that there’s some emotional narrative in this game?  I can’t quite put my finger on it.  Ohhh, right.  Paul Goldschmidt in Coors where he raked as a Diamondback.
