Thank goodness the trade deadline is over. It was wild and crazy, which was fun for Baseball but now we can let things settle a little bit. I have a prediction that the good teams are going to start to flex their muscle in a couple of weeks and go on a 1-2 week stretch where we see some explosive stacks start to hit. This time of year, things do turn more into a stack building mode even for a single entry spot because bullpens wear down and August weather is obviously really good.
We move onto the MAIN slate tonight with 9 games on it.
WEATHER
No issues
There are a few Pitchers who are making their debut’s with new teams and that’s an auto-fade for me until they have pitched with their new catcher/environment a couple of times. So I am crossing off Tyler Anderson, Rich Hill* and Jon Lester. Yes, Rich Hill has already pitched with the Mets, but I just want to cross him off because he is Rich Hill. So deal with it.
As for the pitchers we are considering….
Aaron Nola
Sometimes extremely good, sometimes extremely bad, that has been the story of 2021 Aaron Nola. Most of his extremely good has been at home and the extremely bad has been on the road, which is unique given the park he plays in but I’m throwing all that out the window today. Four of the top five hitters in this lineup are over 30% strikeout rate against his profile and of the top end pitchers today I have the most confidence in Nola pitching 7 strong innings.
Yu Darvish
I will keep buying into Darvish when the opponent makes sense. He should have a rebound spot along the way in the second half and at home vs the Rockies is a very favorable spot to consider it. Colorado went absolutely off last night yes, but I cannot see them repeating that for a long stretch. This is a big spot for San Diego, they need this win.
Erick Fedde
The Cubs are horrendous. If we have a pitcher with a living pulse who can throw 6 innings, we consider him — even Erick Fedde! Hot damn, my DFS analysis for the rest of the season just got automated. I could write up the exact same thing on Kyle Hendricks but the strikeouts do not project to be there. Fedde should pitch well enough.
Sleepers: Dallas Keuchel, Wade Miley
Seattle
Ty France, Mitch Haniger, Luis Torrens, Kyle Seager
Like the Mariners again tonight against Texas. They hit well in this park and the value around Haniger is favorable for stacking them.
Philadelphia
Rhys Hoskins, Jean Segura, JT Realmuto, Bryce Harper
JT Brubaker allows .236 ISO to RHB, which is going to be music to the ears of Jean Segura, Rhys Hoskins and JT Realmuto today. The Phillies should have a high chance of big innings in this park with lots of gap doubles and hopefully Harper is playing so he can walk a couple of times to keep the line moving.
Milwaukee
Willy Adames, Avisail Garcia, Eduardo Escobar
The Brewers are a machine right now, they’re hitting lefties and righties very well and the additions of Willy Adames and Eduardo Escobar along with a resurgant Avisail Garcia have this lineup playing Baseball the right way. They’re not the sexy names of the Yankees, or the flare of the Dodgers, but damnit this Brewers lineup for now is producing among the best in the game and playing in a really good ballpark tonight. Muller isn’t someone I would go a 4-5 man stack against, but there’s definitely value in another high scoring Milwaukee-Atlanta game tonight.
