The Dongers Club – August 14th

Of note tonight the Brewers and Pirates game is only 7 innings, there are no expected weather issues either.

DONGERS CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS

We have finished the Qualifier rounds and the top 9 are now moving on to Group Play before the Championship Round.  Group play will run on next Tuesday and Friday Main slates with the total combined scores from both days being used to determine who advances to the Championship Round.

The 9 contestants who have advanced into the Group Play are seeded into the three groups below.  The winner of each group along with the top 2nd place finisher based upon total points will advance into the Championship round.   Invites will be sent to the qualifiers next Tuesday and good luck, someone needs to beat me, just not in this round!

WALKER BUEHLER

Pitching about as well as anyone else in the National League right now — heck the American League too — and has strong metrics against the Mets lineup with a 26.2% pitchtype strikeout rate vs the top of the order to go along with allowing sub .300 xWOBA to lefties and righties all season long.

DYLAN CEASE

The Yanks and White Sox put on a home run display in Iowa on Thursday night, but had to take a day off yesterday for travel and tonights game in Chicago is one of those Southside 7pm Saturday unders.  Cease should keep rolling vs the Yankees.

JOE MUSGROVE

Let’s trust the model, shall we?  Musgrove has been elite at home and just average on the road.  Tonight, he will be on the road, but Arizona hasn’t been hitting RHP consistently and grades very poorly against Musgrove from a pitchtype setup today.  We’re going to be spending up on pitching today, so I’ll take two 25+ point outings at SP and win with some good value bats out there.

FADE

  • James Kaprielian

ASTROS

Brantley, Alvarez, Correa

There is some inexplicable value on the Houston lineup today.  Altuve is cooled off and sub 5k, Brantley at $3100 is fantastic, Correa $3800 and Yordan Alvarez $4300?  All against Jaime Baria who has been hit hard by anyone stepping into the batters box on either side and heck I didn’t even get to Grand Slammin Anaheim Lovin Kyle Tucker!  I’m all in on Houston today to score 13 runs or more.

ROYALS

Whit, Salvy, Santana

Whit Merrifield’s price is ridiculous.  You can get him, Salvy and Carlos Santana tonight and be able to spend up on arms.  They’re facing Lester too, so uh, yeah, it’s a good spot for Whit…

Also Like:

  • Twins:  Picking on Michael Wacha is always a sound DFS strategy
  • Toronto:  Pricey still, but Kikuchi in a warm Seattle shouldn’t be able to carve them up.  Plenty of opps for them to jack one out considering they hit LHP very well
