The Dongers Club – September 3rd

Happy Friday with 14 games tonight and no weather issues to be concerned with.

Shohei Ohtani

The showtime experience will be on the mound tonight and at home Ohtani draws a non walking and high strikeout Texas Rangers lineup today.  It’s a thin pitching slate considering there are 14 games to pick from so take the 20+ from Ohtani today.

Nathan Eovaldi

Cleveland’s offense is starting to show stuttering signs and we’re going into a cooler part of the schedule now as temps in Boston aren’t extremely high following the storm of Ida rolling through the northeast.  We should expect Eovaldi to continue his recent moderate form and have a highly productive game vs Cleveland.

Nestor Cortes Jr

The stache will face Baltimore which has a couple high ISO bats against lefties, but the raw splits do not tell the full story here.  Six of the Orioles projected hitters tonight have a DCPA K% over 25% and one of the three who doesnt is the struggling Trey Mancini.

I am going to outline my favorite three plays here tonight – 1 from three different teams which you should focus on.

Cincinnati Reds

Votto, India, Suarez

The Reds went ice cold for a few days against the Cardinals before waking up with a bang in the second game of a double-header.  That recent success will translate well into welcoming Jose Urena and the Tigers pitching staff into their tiny ballpark this weekend.

Tampa Bay Rays

Franco, Meadows, Cruz

If my math checks out right I do believe the Rays have been dominating home Friday night games since the start of time.  I could be wrong however, but I am not going to be wrong in assessing them as carving up Randy Dobnak this evening.  Everything he throws turns to gold for the DFS hitters we use against him and how Wander Franco won’t get on base 3 times, score twice and high five Austin Meadows after his 2 run home run is beyond me.

Houston Astros

Correa, Brantley, Alvarez

Dear lord the Astros get to face Jake Arrieta and that’s all I gotta say about that.
