NFL Week 3 – Ambush Updates

I generally do not like to come in with a lot of new information on Sunday Mornings because it will often times lead to over thinking everything.  But there’s a good deal of information worth sharing today so here’s a quick run down on the Sunday Morning updates for The Ambush – Week 3.

  • Dalvin Cook is trending towards not playing and everything that continues to trickle out here points to him being inactive or hardly a full factor.  I am completely off Dalvin Cook and I am not rushing to the now popular Alexander Mattison.  The price discount on Mattison might seem attractive but really there’s no need for his salary reduction this week and it’s not like we are getting him at min price.  The game flow to me still points to a lower scoring spot and a good chalk fade but Justin Jefferson is more intriguing now for Minnesota.
  • The model is updated to reflect Mattison starting and Dalvin sitting.
  • DeAndre Hopkins is going to be active, but probably limited.  Rondale Moore should see a reception boost but overall the Cardinals are likely to lean more heavy on James Conner and Chase Edmonds — neither of which I really have a strong desire to touch.
  • Kenny Golladay is looking clear to go for the Giants, which is good because he should destroy Atlanta.

Here are the projected chalk/leverage pivots as per the rankings on the Dashboard — which now has the BETA version of the Chalks Report that I have alluded too.

That is a screenshot from earlier and I plan to have some additional updates to the overall tool coming soon.  As you can see in the screenshot above, it has some tweaking still to do but overall this will be a great utility to use on Sunday Mornings when you are looking for that one singular pivot to make.  Here are a few that stand out to me as being good ideas to take shots on.

  • Sony Michel chalk is just dumber than a box of rocks stupid.  I know it’s not 20%+ but for him to be anything over 2% owned vs Tampa’s rush defense is ridiculous.  You could almost justify playing anyone else but the point of this report is to highlight someone who is ranked higher but lower owned in the same price range at that position and Jonathan Taylor/Devin Singletary are two guys in that range who make sense.
  • Chris Godwin is going to see some Jalen Ramsey as he won’t be exclusive on Mike Evans, that’s another bad chalk and Sterling Shepard does make sense but we’re on Kenny Golladay more.

Again, it is in beta and I expect some further enhancements in the coming week but hopefully this helps as a quick research tool.

Here are the other quick hit thoughts before lock …

  • Quarterback is very spread out this week and over on FanDuel there’s a lot of extra salary to be used up which is bringing Mahomes-Tyreek Hill into play as a combination I would rather jump on than Ryan Tannehill-AJ Brown over there.  I would use Brown as a one off and just take the Mahomes-Tyreek connection on FanDuel because we’re spending mid range on Running Back again.
  • We seem to have all overlooked the Kenyan Drake revenge game.
  • Gibson – Ekeler – Fournette remain my favorite 3 RB today.  But Jonathan Taylor, Nick Chubb and Joe Mixon will not do you wrong.
  • Calvin Ridley is a must own if you have a Giants stack.  Run it back with him.

Good luck!  Lets go Ambush the competition.
