C Nathan MacKinnon (COL)

Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon 'week to week' with lower-body injury - The Athletic

On a short slate with MacKinnon and Connor McDavid, the logical tactic would be to roster one, if not both of those stars. If choosing one I’m leaning with the Avalanche star in a great matchup with the Blue Jackets for $800 less. MacKinnon has just one goal to this point but has added eight assists totaling nine points in his six games played recording at least one point in each. Columbus has struggled defensively primarily against opposing centers.

W Patrick Kane (CHI)

Coming off of a three-goal, one assist effort Kane is priced down at $6,500, his lowest salary of the season for some reason. For reference, the future Hall of Famer has been priced up as high as $7,500 (twice) this season. The Hurricanes have the sixth-highest expected goals against rate per 60 minutes and the eighth-most high-danger scoring chances per 60 at 5v5. Kane should be popular despite this being a McDavid and MacKinnon slate but this price is just way too low.

Colorado Avalanche

Nathan MacKinnon, Gabriel Landeskog, Bowen Byram

With the Avalanche banged up – Mikko Rantanen is doubtful, Andre Burakovsky is day to day, and Cale Makar is out for at least a week – the troops are thin and the scoring should be centered moreso around MacKinnon. Supporting him on the top line will be captain Gabriel Landeskog priced at $6,200, nice for a guy with four goals and four assists in six games and an individual that finds himself in front of the net on the top power-play unit. Byram likely will fill in for Makar on the top power-play unit on the opposite point of MacKinnon and is priced at just $3,700. In eight games he’s shown the ability to produce with a goal, four assists, 11 shots, and six blocks.

Los Angeles Kings

Anze Kopitar, Viktor Arvidsson, Dustin Brown, Kale Clague

Coming into this Western Conference matchup the St. Louis Blues are allowing the third-most high-danger scoring chances (13.48) per 60 at 5v5 while the Los Angeles Kings are averaging the fourth-most of such (13.28) in the same situation. Kopitar, Arvidsson, and Brown are positioned on the first even-strength line with Kopitar and Arvidsson correlating on the top power-play unit with value defenseman Kale Clague.
