Key Skaters
C Auston Matthews (TOR)
Matthews continues to be a staple in my lineups and why not? He has multiple points in three of his last four games, has hit the shot bonus in two of his last four, and is in a game that should see scoring chances on both sides (Philadelphia allows the sixth-most shots on goal per game). It’s hard to stay away from the best player on the slate on these short slates and that’s the narrative with AM34 here.
C Tyler Seguin (DAL)
Another center to consider starting lineups with is Tyler Seguin from the Stars taking on the Predators. Seguin has points in each of his last three games and has hit the shot bonus in three of his last six contests. Nashville has been stingy overall but Seguin is a high upside play that could go lower owned even on a slate of just three games. This should be a good, solid hockey game overall and I’ll give the edge to Seguin and the Stars at home.
Favorite Line Stacks
Toronto Maple Leafs
Auston Matthews, Willie Nylander, Michael Bunting, Morgan Rielly
- Matthews, Nylander, and Bunting have skated well together posting the third-highest expected goals for rate as a trio (among lines that have at least 50 minutes skated together) and even though he’s not seeing a ton of power-play time, Bunting is a nice value at $4,400. Rielly slides in on the top power-play unit and has five points (all assists) in his last six games.
Minnesota Wild
Joel Eriksson Ek, Kirill Kaprizov, Mats Zuccarello, Kevin Fiala
- The four skaters above for the Wild are a combination of the top two even-strength lines. They all, however, correlate on the top power-play unit which makes for a good matchup against the Coyotes. Arizona averages 14.5 penalty minutes per game (most) and have the 30th ranked penalty kill. These two metrics are major factors into why they are 1-10-1 on the season. Minnesota’s power-play has been underwhelming but they will have their chances and capitalize in this matchup.
