NFL DFS: Saturday Night Football Core Plays – Week 18
My Core Plays
QB Jalen Hurts (PHI)
Of the four quarterbacks on the slate tonight the only two I’m considering are Hurts and Patrick Mahomes. Hurts will be the guy I lean on most heavily in my tournament lineups with a suppressed price ($6,300) and rushing upside. Despite the perceived tough matchup, the Cowboys will be without some of their defensive players, and Hurts put up over 25 DK points against them earlier this season. There’s is some risk that Hurts doesn’t play the ENTIRE game but I’m going to take my chances as such.
RB Darrel Williams (KC)
The Chiefs will be without Clyde Edwards-Helaire in this matchup so expect Williams to be heavily involved. As a back that’s involved in the passing game and one who’s had 14 and 11 carries in his last two games, he’s drastically undervalued at $5,900 in a matchup that the Chiefs should control from the start.
RB Javonte Williams (DEN)
Williams should be the lead back in Denver and that’s been the case all season. However, the coaching staff in Denver feels the need to split him with Melvin Gordon and to Gordon’s credit, he’s been productive and relatively healthy this season. Regardless, the upside of Williams is sky-high and Javonte had his best game of the season against the Chiefs (178 total yards and a touchdown) and his ownership will be tamed.
WR Devonta Smith (PHI)
With the status of tight end Dallas Goedert in question, Smith is shaping up as the preferred pass target for Hurts in this matchup against Dallas. Trevon Diggs and one of the Cowboys’ starting safeties, Jayron Kearse have been ruled out making the path to success a bit easier for the Eagles’ passing game and Smith in particular.
WR Courtland Sutton (DEN)
With Denver clearly in evaluation mode all of their playmakers are worth considering in a spot that the Broncos will ideally have to throw throughout. Sutton, who’s always been a prefferred target of Drew Lock’s has seen five, five, and seven targets in his last three games. He’s just $4,600 suggesting that he’ll be pretty popular but regardless, I’ll have plenty of exposure to him.
WR Amari Cooper (DAL)
Cooper and CeeDee Lamb are expected to see an increase in targets at the receiver position with Michael Gallup now out for the season. Cooper ($6,500) is priced in a good spot and has found the end zone in three of his last four games. With the Cowboys, there’s the risk that their starters don’t play the entire game, so consider this when building lineups.
TE Travis Kelce (KC)
The Chiefs have motivation in this game as they lock into the number two seed with a win, thus granting them a home-field advantage for the first two playoff games. Kelce had an odd five-catch, 25 yards game last week and did not produce the last time these two teams matched. With that being said, this is a spot for the Chiefs to get their offense right, and they’ve shown flashes of late, heading into the playoffs.
