CBB DFS – January 26th

This is a really big slate tonight as a lot of games are included and none of the DFS options have games which are double digit spreads.

Some of these spots here don’t have that much to offer tonight

Florida at Tennessee

The Gators should struggle to put up enough points tonight and it’s probably a good spot to bet the team total under.  The Vols are stout defensively and defend wings well, you need to beat them with PG and C dominance neither of which Florida really has.  If Tyree Appleby was still sub 5k we would look at him but otherwise no thank you on anything here.  This coincidentally is the biggest spread (-9) on the DFS games and I suspect the Vols cover it.

Northwestern at Michigan

Eli Brooks continues to play a good deal of minutes but has not been productive recently.  This is a great spot for him to get back into the upper 20’s, but Caleb Houston ($5900) is probably your safest cash type play from this game.  Northwestern is all too expensive for me to consider touching as the ceilings are limited IMO.

Iowa State at Oklahoma State

Not touching this Big 12 slugfest.

Penn State at Indiana

Let’s not and say we did?

These top two games tonight are essentially the CORE spots to pay up and focus on.  There are some other games which I went into more detail on and some one offs mentioned in the CORE players section, but your CORE is from these top two games today.

Providence at Xavier

  • Providence:     Nate Watson, Jared Bynum
  • Xavier:    Nate Johnson, Paul Freemantle

Arkansas at Ole Miss

  • Arkansas:  JD Notae, DaVonte Davis
  • Ole Miss:  Nysier Brooks

Marquette vs Seton Hall

This game looks better on paper/logos than it does for DFS.  We really can’t trust anyone on Marquette as Justin Lewis certainly is in that 30-40 point range every game but only went for 35 when these teams last met and at $8800 really is someone to just consider as a one off play here.   Darryl Morsell was hot last game and last time vs Seton Hall, I wouldn’t assume a repeat.  Instead the Pirates are the side to focus on, Jared Rhoden is always on the radar and Alexis Yetna is coming off a down game finally, he will bounce back.

Oklahoma at West Virginia

Taz Sherman and Sean McNeil at home and facing a team giving up a lot of made 3 pointers.  They shoot it a ton from the outside and should easily hit value today.  Like them both and running it back with Tanner Groves from Oklahoma.

Creighton at Butler

This game has a very low 126 total which will drive DFS ownership away but I like the setup on the pricing and the gameflow.  To steal a football term, Creighton really seems to funnel things to Stretch 4 profile players, Bo Hodges fits that bill and is coming off a really good 36 point performance against Providence.  Butler’s playing well enough to win this game and it should from him, Bryce Nze and Chuck Harris that they get it done.

VCU starting point guard Ace Baldwin suffers ruptured Achilles tendon | Ram Nation

Adrian Baldwin – VCU – 6400

Averaging 35+ minutes over last month and 28.3 fppg during that stretch.  Davidson is the worst ranked defense on this slate so while the pace in this game isn’t blazing fast, the efficiency from the VCU side should be good.  Baldwin should have a high assist and steal game today.

Tyson Etienne – Wichita State – 6400

Averages 8 three point attempts per game, carries a 25% usage rate and will play a high volume of minutes tonight.

Taz Sherman – West Virginia – 6300

Hate the game, love the player.  Despite a slow tempo and facing a quality defense, being at home with a high 3 point attempt volume and ability to take over close games makes Sherman very solid at this price today.

Scotty Pippen Jr – Vanderbilt – 8600

The Pippen kid played one of the worst games imaginable when these teams met on Vandy’s home floor earlier this month.  I will take a shot on Pippen and Vandy not playing with their heads up their arses tonight and expect him to thrive with the tempo boost on the Gamecocks floor.
