Thanks to the lockout bullshit we have two scheduled double-headers today and one make-up double-header which causes a little mix-up on the slate sizes. We also have more senior citizen slates, including the Padres-Phillies series not being available to us — which blows!

LUCAS GIOLITO
Giolito is DraftKings only and there’s a chance you might be betting against him if the White Sox win the first game. All that does for me is just open up the chances of this being a SP game stack with Brady Singer too though because the Royals offense remains putrid. They aren’t striking out much but then when you have Carlos Santana, Michael A. Taylor and Hunter Dozier in your lineup who cares.
The White Sox will be going with a bullpen game in G2 tonight and Giolito will go tomorrow.
JAMES KAPRIELIAN
I joked that this was “Not Coors Field” in last nights article but it’s simply one of the best spots to always find a pitcher when you really need one. Oakland Coliseum at night with sub 60 degree temps and a chalky Dylan Bundy on the other side. Let’s go a little leverage opposite here and ride Kaprielian.
MERRILL KELLY
Kelly has had great success vs the Dodgers historically and if the Diamondbacks steal the first game I’ll pivot off him for that narrative reason, but otherwise I generally like using pitchers in double headers as they’re lower scoring and right now the Dodgers lineup is good but not explosive good — at least not yet.

Also will consider …
Alex Cobb … Cobb is my pivot off Kelly if necessary. Despite being in Coors Field his velocity is strong enough that he can miss enough bats and still escape with a solid enough score at his 8k price point.
Jameson Taillon … JT will get a favorable park in Camden Yards tonight the way it is playing and while he doesn’t have the K% upside that Cobb or Kaprielian have, he should be able to get you a reasonable score.
I do not like Berrios or Gilbert in the game up north.

Urquidy is really struggling and the combination of his low K% vs LH and RH hitters and the Red Sox low K% as a team puts them in a good spot tonight.

I have never been an Adrian Houser guy and anytime Acuna gets a day off and then is leading off the next night (as he is today) I will take a chance on the Braves. Roof should be closed which benefits hitting as this park has actually been a homer friendly one more than any other this season when the roof is closed and Atlanta gets the lesser of the Brewers pitching today.

The whole world knew that Marcus Semien was going to be a disappointment in 2022 after his big year with the Jays last season, but this has gone on too long with him failing to get a home run.
I like that first homer of the season to come tonight and a rookie SP coming off a no hitter is a prime spot to attack and if you want a pivot off the chalky Giants in Coors because they are cheap, the Rangers are that team.
