I will post the Dongers Club Contest Standings by tomorrow and a reminder that the final round is this Friday.
We have a four game early slate and then the MAIN slate article later tonight and no weather issues on this early afternoon slate. The four games includes Game 1 of the Mariners vs Nationals double-header with the same pitchers as scheduled last night.
These are the four games and this is my quick take on them
Mariners at Nationals – Offense
Mets at Braves – Data says the two veterans get hit but gut says they pitch well enough to avoid heavy damage
Brewers at Twins – Offense
Tigers at Royals – God help me ….

BRADY SINGER
The Tigers passed over Singer in the draft (for good reason to be honest) and he has always pitched his best against the MoTown Kittens. His career record is 12-18 but he is 4-0 against the Tigers who he just mowed down a couple Sunday’s ago in Detroit. He’s also been much better historically in day games and really has a lot of other good factors in his favor today.
TARIK SKUBAL
Baby Robbie-Ray as I call him has had his struggles this season but showed signs of really turning the corner his last start out. With a short slate and the other games being good for offense I like the path of taking the SP gamestack here and expecting Skubal to once again have a K+ per IP in this outing.
Next best options:
- Charlie Morton – He has dominated Lindor and Alonso is looking forward to the Home Run Derby right now.

Seattle at Washington
This was one of my favorite games last night and the humidity in a day game today is going to feel even warmer. So we start here and we lock in Eugenio Suarez and Juan Soto and then move on from there.
For Seattle Julio Rodriguez is getting the early game off, but that’s not an issue because we have lots of OF we like on this slate and for a stack build Jesse Winker fits in quite nicely instead. Play Ty France not Carlos Santana in this stack.
For The Nationals, they are the team I think who wins this game and Soto-Cruz-Bell are impossible to fade if you play the Nationals.

Milwaukee at Minnesota
Joe Ryan (MIN) is getting hit hard by LHB which isn’t ideal with Wong, Tellez, Narvaez and possibly Yelich on the other side.
Aaron Ashby (MIL) is walking too many batters as a full time starter, which doesn’t bode well at the top of a lineup who has great power vs LHP as well.
So yes, both these kids have some electric stuff at times which can give them a high swinging strike upside, but their misses can be very deadly today.

CATCHER
Nobody here is a must own play today. MJ Melendez has been raking vs sliders which is what he should see a good deal from Skubal, however I am banking on Skubal pitching well so I don’t think that is the force at 4500. Instead I’ll go to the top games in Washington and Minnesota and utilize Catcher in the stack method. If it was August then it would be Gary Sanchez, but last I checked, it’s not.
- Omar Narvaez
- Keibert Ruiz
- Cal Raleigh

FIRST BASE
Tellez hasn’t done anything over his last four games despite having some very favorable match-ups and on the season his road numbers are way lower than when he hits at home. But consider this me chasing him as the big first baseman should be able to sit dead red against Joe Ryan.
On FanDuel I will lean to play two guys here to get Tellez in, because both France and Bell are strong plays in their stacks.
- Rowdy Tellez
- Ty France
- Josh Bell

SECOND BASE
Mr. Wong is a must own if he leads off in the absence of Christian Yelich again. If he doesn’t then Jorge Polanco or value options like Luis Guillomore/Adam Frazier come into play. Nobody here is what I would consider a core play.
- Kolten Wong
- Adam Frazier
- Luis Guillomore
[spacer height=”12px”]
THIRD BASE
- Eugenio Suarez
- Emmanuel Rivera – A $2200 play of Rivera is reasonable if you are riding Bassitt/Morton to pitch well and want one of them.
- Maikel Franco
[spacer height=”12px”]
SHORTSTOP
Francisco Lindor has never had success off Charlie Morton but I could see him finally breaking through if Morton is off his game.
- Willy Adames
- JP Crawford
- Francisco Lindor

OUTFIELD – Mt. Rushmore
These four studs are at the top of my list for OF today. There’s also value with Kyle Garlick assuming he has a favorable spot in the batting order.
- Juan Soto
- Christian Yelich
- Jesse Winker
- Byron Buxton
Other OF: Garlick, Cruz, Yadiel Hernandez, Eddie Rosario

Value Hitters
- Edward Olivares
- Emmanuel Rivera
- Kyle Garlick
- Yadi Hernandez
