The Dongers Club – Sept 12th

Many thanks to Marsella, Geriak and the Wiserman for their contributions while I was eating Italian Food, Drinking lots of Vino and getting a little Sun out on the coast of Italy the past week.

But let’s be honest ….

It’s good to be back.

WEATHER

No issues tonight other than the Chase Field Roof still being broken, which is an issue but nothing that causes us DFS issues.

Of course the other issue is that the Angels and Guardians series is likely to avoid all the DFS main slates this week, which is really a bummer for all of our Ohtani Chairman picks.

Not only am I back tonight, but so is Jon Gray as he is pitching the second game of the Rangers-Marlins double header in Miami and you do not need to bother with that for $8,800 on DraftKings.  This game is not on FD.

SPENCER STRIDER

After a couple hiccups Strider is really on cruise control right now and should have no problem throwing gas past the Giants lineup this evening out in San Francisco.

CHRIS BASSITT

The Cubs have long ago stopped hitting and are going to make sure that they plummet their team stats all the way down to make us all look smart at the end of the year in regards to them being horrific.  Bassitt at home is almost certain to be a 6+ IP guy with a big probability that he gives the Mets a 7 inning start tonight much like his last outing.  The great thing here with both Strider and Bassitt is these teams are fighting each other off to see who can not Falcon away the division — hey did you see the Falcons blow a 26-10 lead yesterday?  That was fun.

Oh, where was I.  Ah yes, take the pay up options on DK tonight with these two arms.

RYNE NELSON

It’s September so we need to be aware of cheap SP sleeepers tonight.  Braxton Garrett almost got some consideration but I like picking on teams who just clinched a playoff berth and the Dodgers are that team for me tonight.  The roof is closed and the Dodgers are going to be UBER chalk for all the NFL $$ that is coming over to MLB tonight.  He’s a leverage and has upside at this $6,200 price tag.

Guys I just do not trust tonight

Jon Gray – Coming off IL

Jose Berrios – He’s better at home this season but I still won’t pull the trigger on Berrios today, although no Franco again for Tampa is something that should help.

PIRATES vs REDS

Two pitchers who can struggle a lot.  In the case of Mike Minor his season pitching at home in Cincinnati has gone as expected allowing 12 of his 20 HR there and RHH continue to just feast off him.  Look for a nice game from Hayes/Reynolds/Newman for the Pirates.

Pirates top plays:

  • KeBryan Hayes
  • Bryan Reynolds

Reds top plays:

  • Jake Fraley
  • TJ Freidl

BLUE JAYS

Bichette, Guerrero, Tapia, Espinal

Toronto is going to get a 6’6 pitcher in Cooper Criswell who is making just his second ever MLB appearance.  I wouldn’t think he lasts long but I also never trust tall pitchers who are young because thier command generally sucks.  With the way Bo Bichette is swinging the bat right now he’s probably going to be foaming at the mouth if he comes up with the bases loaded to hit a Grand Slam tonight.

DIAMONDBACKS

Walker, Kelly, Rivera, Garrett

The D’Backs should be < 2% owned but the RHH are a great spot vs Tyler Anderson.  Hard to pass Christian Walker and Carson Kelly IMO tonight if you ride this contrarian pick.
