CFB DFS Tailgate: Sep 24th

Naturally the best slate of the season this year comes on a day when I am going to be out Golfing in Arizona.  I know, I know, you all feel so badly for me right now.

But seriously, what a loaded set of games we have here.  It was very hard to break them down into three categories but I did my best based off my initial gut looking at each game.

My quick analysis on this Saturday MAIN slate is that the one off must own players aren’t as glaring as they should be with so many good games.  This lends itself more than ever to a heavy game stack week and one where I would prioritize a lineup around exposure from 2 games and then maybe your favorite one off paired with that.

Top Games

  • Florida at Tennessee
  • Texas at Texas Tech
  • TCU at SMU
  • Duke at Kansas … No, seriously…

Could be worth a look

  • Maryland at Michigan
  • Clemson at Wake Forest
  • Notre Dame at North Carolina
  • Minnesota at Michigan State
  • Oregon at Washington State

Straight Ass (For DFS)

  • Indiana at Cincinnati
  • Mizzou at Auburn
  • CMU at Penn State
  • Baylor at Iowa State

Florida at Tennessee

Welcome to the game of the year in the SEC.  The only thing holding it back is …. well, nothing?

Hendon Hooker has been fantastic in a Volunteers uniform and he’ll have someone on the other side who should match his production as Anthony Richardson looks to have A GPP winning game at his ridiculous $6,800 price tag on DraftKings.

This game rocks.

Gators

  • QB:  Richardson – 6800
  • WR:  Henderson – 5800
  • WR: Pearsall – 3900

Vols

We need information on Tillman in this game.  If he is OUT you do not skip on Hyatt, but if Tillman is in then Hooker naked or with Tillman is fine.

  • QB:  Hooker – 8100
  • RB:  Small – 7000
  • WR:  Hyatt – 6800

Duke at Kansas

While this game has a ton of eye-ball emoji reactions to it, I wouldn’t be shocked if it wound up right at or under the projected total of 65.5 points.  But that’s still good for us to look here for some stack potential with reasonable pricing.

Duke should get work done on the ground and that leads us to their QB Riley Leonard and I would pair him with WR Jalon Calhoun who I think is a near must own in other lineups as well.

For the Jayhawks they can be a little harder to pin down but Jalon Daniels is certainly having a great season to warrant QB game stack and his pairing should be Luke Grimm.

  • Duke:  Leonard, Calhoun
  • Kansas:  Daniels, Grimm

TCU at SMU

We have to give this game a good look this week.  The TCU side has an easy 1-2-3 team stack with Duggan, Miller and Johnston all being in the 7k range and all being the primary 1-2-3 headed monster for them in a big pace up spot.

SMU could probably be boiled down to this.  How you gonna feel at 2:57 PM EST when Rashee Rice hauls in his third touchdown of the game for 185 yards?

MY GUYS

ANTHONY RICHARDSON – Florida – $6,800

Point per dollar the best player on the entire slate in my mind is A-Rich.  Lots of rushing upside and some sneaky passing TD upside here too.

RILEY LEONARD – Duke – $6,000

The attention here is going to go to the Jayhawks and yes Jalon Daniels (7,900) has been very good leading their improved offense but I think Duke is going to be the proper DFS build for exposure.  At 6,000 we have Leonard who is essentially 1/3 of the Duke rushing attack and the most likely scenario for Duke to score this week is him near the goal line or a long touchdown pass to Calhoun.  Either way for 6k you get someone who should account for over 2.5 touchdowns, have some rushing yard stats and be in a game flow which is beneficial.

HENDON HOOKER – Tennessee – $8,100

His price isnt as great as the other options here but if Tennessee is going to drop 40 points today he has to figure a way to get 30 DK fpts.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Last week I made a huge mistake of just overthinking it at RB and not riding the home RB against a horrific rushing defense in Ibrahim.  I won’t make that same mistake this week however, because there is no such sure thing home RB against a terrible rush defense.

MY GUYS

TANK BIGSBY – Auburn – $6,000

Auburn doesn’t have much offense but Tank is one player who can make a still bad Mizzou rush defense pay.

Tahj Brooks – Texas Tech – $5,300

He scores a touchdown and is a great FLEX option on a slate with decent RB depth.

BIJAN ROBINSON – Texas – $8,300

This slate is great for game stacking with the pricing the way it is, but if you want to pair one stud with your game stack elsewhere, it’s hard to not like Bijan Robinson even against a decent Texas Tech rush defense.

CHRIS TYREE – Notre Dame – $5,600

Another year and another automatic RB vs the UNC rush defense.

ALSO LIKE

JABARI SMALL – Tennessee – $7,000

Part of Florida/Tennessee game stack.

KENDRE MILLER – TCU – $7,700

Miller has scored in each game and is averaging 5.14 YPC, going into a game with the SMU defense so far giving up over 4.2 YPC he should be in line for a good amount of work for TCU with the tempo boost.

[spacer height=”20px”]

MY GUYS

RASHEE RICE – SMU – $8,600

I wouldn’t fall into the trap of thinking you can get some of the ‘cheaper’ SMU receivers against TCU.  The Horned Frogs have limited opponents to a 55% completion rate and have enough defenders in the passing game to shutdown the secondary guys.

So when SMU needs something, they are going to through their stud WR, which makes him hard to ignore as he should hit the 100 yard bonus, score a touchdown and haul in a bunch of passes as normal.

JALON CALHOUN – DUKE – $6,100

Big play ability for 6100 on the road is why Calhoun is going to have flames next to his name this weekend and I mean the good kind.

XZAVIER HENDERSON – Florida – $5,800

With the touchdowns from Florida coming by Richardson running or throwing we would be stupid to ignore his best weapon and I am banking on Richardson throwing his first touchdown of the season to Henderson in the red zone.  They will have to throw it in the second half, so he should do enough to justify the price tag.

JALIN HYATT – Tennessee – $6,800

Staying in the game I really think is the best one this weekend Hyatt leads the way among guys who could have huge games for the Vols.
