MNF Showdown: Raiders @ Chiefs

Game Theory

In the two meetings last season the Chiefs put up 48 (48-9) and 41 (41-14) points on the Raiders.  Obviously we have some changes mostly on the Chiefs offense with Tyreek Hill being gone, but there is no denying that Mahomes has had his way generally against the Raiders.

This will be just the second home game of the year for Kansas City and it’s also their second prime time game against a division rival.

I see no reason to expect Kansas City to not throw it 35+ times and for the Raiders to try and match that now that Davante Adams is at their disposal in the passing game and Hunter Renfrow looks fully clear to go tonight.  But despite all that, Josh Jacobs is the key for the Raiders having any success in Arrowhead.

Notable Injuries:

  • Foster Moreau (Quest)
  • Harrison Butker (OUT), Ju-Ju Smith-Schuster (Quest)

Captain Plays

Travis Kelce

  • Kelce, Waller and Adams are the best pass catching options who could have massive games.  But Kelce and Adams are the realistic choices to have a 10 catch game.  I do not see the Chiefs not winning this game and they don’t win it without Kelce having 7+ catches

Patrick Mahomes

  • Playing a QB in the Captain spot on DraftKings is generally hard to do unless he rushes one in, but a Mahomes keeper tonight is one of those ‘outside the box’ type picks I would look at today.  He’s much easier to build around on FanDuel with their Single Game format and so I would prioritize using him there.

Josh Jacobs

  • Jacobs would have to score twice and probably have a 5 catch game.  Luckily he has had 5 catches in each of his last two and the Chiefs look to still be a favorable team for RB catching balls against.

Core/Flex Plays

Along with the three above, these are the best players to build around, ranked in order.

  • Davante Adams
  • Hunter Renfrow
  • Marquez Valdes-Scantling
  • Derek Carr

Value Picks:

  • Isiah Pacheco
  • Mecole Hardman
  • Daniel Carlson

Bets

  • Josh Jacobs Anytime Touchdown +125
  • Travis Kelce Over 6.5 Receptions -130
  • 6 point teaser:  Chiefs -1 / Over 45.5
