Overview
For the second time ever, the Cup Series will take on World Wide Technology Raceway, or Gateway as it’s commonly called. Gateway is a 1.25-mile asphalt oval with very little banking. The drivers will turn 200 laps for 300 miles. The common opinion on this track is that track position is going to be crucial as it will be difficult to pass here, specifically amongst the strong cars. There’s a ton of grip here so I expect some of the more aggressive drivers to push the envelope. A couple of drivers have compared this track to a bigger Martinsville.

Top Drivers
Kyle Busch ($9,800), Starting on the Pole
The pole sitter of this race last year (Chase Briscoe) led 27 laps and Busch who was impressive in qualifying should be able to get out in front early. He’s priced down for a guy that could lead a big chunk of this race early and he should be popular.
Ryan Blaney ($10,100), Starting 2nd
Blaney is fresh off his first win of the season and should give Kyle everything he can handle at the start and early portion of this race. He ran well he last year driving to a fourth-place finish after starting fifth and at similar track Martinsville has seven top-five’s in 15 races.
Kyle Larson ($11,300), Starting 22nd
After a sub-par qualifying effort Larson will start 22nd. The floor should be solid here for the most expensive driver on the slate despite a middle of the pack effort here last year and some inconsistencies at Martinsville.
Corey Lajoie ($7,400), Starting 30th
Lajoie will be in the 9 car for Chase Elliott this weekend, a car extremely well equipped as he looks to avenge last years misfortunes at this track when his engine blew after 72 laps. This should be the trendy place differential play.
