The Dongers Club – Aug 26th

DraftKings with a big whiff on the slate configuration for today.  A small 20 minute gap is too big for them to combine the two slates into one nice 10 game slate.

  • Toronto and Boston are resuming their suspended game early and then have their regularly scheduled game tonight
  • Miami is in Coors, which always turns into a 14-12 game with 8 home runs.
  • Tampa Bay is in Seattle, the Mike Zunino Series
  • Detroit continues their series on the South Side.  I was a Riley Greene HR away from 300k yesterday.  Fun times.  He’s a lock homer today my friends.
  • And the Braves are at the Twins … Party like it’s the 1991 World Series

On the DK Turbo slate these games/series are taking place with each of them being on the FanDuel MAIN slate.

Astros (Blanco) at Phillies (Wheeler):

  • Philly is a good stack with Wheeler being good to use.  Much rather go with him at home than Cortes on the road (see below)

Cubs (Taillon) at Pirates (Keller):

  • Pittsburgh is a good stack here.  Taillon has come back to earth in the second half.

Royals (Marsh) at Guardians (Allen)

  • HUGE is an understatement on how large this series is.  Cleveland could really put a dagger in the Royals divisional hopes as part of a double header today.
  • Pending how the first game goes I like offense here.

Yankees (Cortes) at Nationals (Parker)

  • The Yankees are going to see 3 lefties in their trip to DC this week.  Ironically the key guy for me is Jazz who has hit all three of these specific lefties and certainly gets to come up to the dish after the gauntlet of Soto-Judge-Stanton right now.  Nobody is talking about how hot Stanton is at the moment and he is one of those big time HR streak guys.  I think he’s your key focus here along with Jazz and some bottom of the lineup garbage for value.
  • Nestor gets hit too.  Maybe take a shot on prospect Dylan Crews who just got called up for tonight.

WEATHER

All games should play fine.

BRYCE MILLER (DK: $8900, FD: $9400)

Believe it or not, the revamped Tampa lineup is actually average offensively.  But in Seattle teams are still a downgrade offensively and Seattle pitching is an upgrade.  Thin slate, so we go here for our best play.

BAILEY OBER (DK: $9200, FD: $9600)

Either Ozuna, Murphy or Soler should connect for a solo  HR.  Let’s hope it’s just a solo HR.  Not a bad idea to try and game stack the SP here and take 30 certain FPTS.

MAX FRIED (DK: $8700, FD: $9300)

When Fried was first coming up his biggest problem would be walks driving up his pitch count and leading to some high-stress long innings.  His August trends started off with walks being a real problem but appears to be trending back in the right direction and is coming off a high GB% game.  Minnesota is a pesky team vs LHP, so I have him ranked third, but if we get Fried feeling good tonight you could get a 7 inning, 0 ER, 5 strikeout clean game out of him.

OTHER PITCHING THOUGHTS

  • First run on the model/projections really had Edward Cabrera and Ryan Feltner grading out well.  I can’t trust either though.  I expect 20 runs!

PADRES

Luis Arraez, Jake Cronenworth, Jackson Merrill

Hot as hell in St. Louis and a good low ball hitting team.  I wouldn’t be shocked to see San Diego score double digit runs tonight.

TIGERS

Riley Greene, Kerry Carpenter, Parker Meadows

BLUE JAYS

George Springer, Vlad Guerrero Jr, Will Wagner

MARLINS

Jake Burger, Connor Norby, Kyle Stowers

Losing Xavier Edwards is a bummer here.  He would have had a huge series in Coors since he just gets on base and then causes havoc.  Jake Burger has been one of the hottest power bats in the second half and the big outfield should help guys like Connor Norby and Kyle Stowers find a way to get ones into the gap.
