CFB National Championship – Georgia vs Alabama

The re-match is here as the SEC is once again dominating the National Championship spotlight despite what I considered to be a down year for the conference.  Georgia and Alabama will give us the re-match some of us wanted and with Alabama being forced to play the entire game without one of their top WR in John Metchie we could see things go much closer all around this time.

Alabama took the approach of beating Georgia through the air in their first meeting and Bryce Young was phenomenal in that game.  I expect this game to be attempted to be won through the Alabama ground game off the back of Brian Robinson while Georgia will look to continue the hot streak for Stetson Bennett because the way to beat Alabama is vertically over the top.

Captain Strategy

One thing that is unique about this game tonight is I don’t see any one high priced player having a game where the other team cannot stop him.  In that scenario we kind of want to make sure we don’t blow our salary on the captain spot to ensure getting the primary plays

So let’s first look at who those primary plays are.

CORE Plays

It is worth pointing out that Georgia allowed a total of 3 rushing touchdowns all season long.  A Brian Robinson multi-touchdown game would be extremely unlikely but then unlikely is what probably wins tonight.

Slade Bolden and JaCorey Brooks are the two keys tonight in DFS Showdown.  With Metchie out they both see a bump in targets and it was Bolden who went 5/54 in the game vs Georgia, but Brooks is the one who sees the biggest bump in my mind with Metchie out now.

Junior TE Cameron Latu had 7 touchdowns on the season, so I prefer him over the more known Jahleel Billingsley.

RB Trey Sanders is the Alabama X-factor tonight.  In the Semi-Final game vs Cincinnati he finished with a season high 15 carries.  I prefer him as well over Billingsley.

  • QB – Bryce Young – $10,600
  • WR – JaCorey Brooks – $6,400
  • WR – Jameson Williams – $10,200
  • RB – Brian Robinson – $14,700
  • RB – Trey Sanders – $2,600
  • WR – Slade Bolden – $5,800
  • TE – Cameron Latu – $2,000

Captain Viable:  Young, Brooks, Williams

UGA wins through the air tonight.  I picked Alabama when these two teams met in the SEC Championship game, but the loss of Metchie might prove to be too big.  If Georgia’s defense does what they should, the Dogs win tonight by 10 and their offense is led by Stetson Bennett who is on a heater right now.

Believe it or not, the Georgia weapons are as good as Alabama’s.  TE Brock Bowers has been a machine all season long and with WR George Pickens back they’re very competent at WR along with a solid RB group.

White, Cook and McIntosh will all figure their way into my lineups with White being the logical play given his price.  James Cook is best used in the Captain spot based on what I see his projected ownership being.

  • QB – Stetson Bennett – $10,000
  • WR – George Pickens – $3,200
  • WR – Jermaine Burton – $10,500
  • TE – Brock Bowers – $9,200
  • RB – James Cook – $8,200
  • RB – Zamir White – $5,400
  • RB – Kenny McIntosh – $3,600

Captain Viable:   Bennett, Cook, Bowers, Pickens

VALUES / FILL IN PLAYS

If you are into using Kickers tonight, your players are Jack Podlesny (Georgia) and Will Reichard (Alabama).   Reichard is the better play.
