The Dongers Club – September 24th

WEATHER & INFO

So the Cardinals and Cubs are playing a double header today and the second game is on the main DraftKings slate despite being a 7 inning game.  There are really strong winds blowing out and the Cardinals are practically free on DraftKings.  There’s not much to overthink here, they need the game and they should roll if everyone is in the lineup (which again, they need the game).

Boston and New York could see a shower or two, but I think the game is safe to go.

Meanwhile the Padres and Braves are resuming a suspended game from earlier in the season and thus FanDuel has omitted that game from the slate tonight.

Logan Gilbert

The Mariners are letting their future ACE pitch out the string now and he gets a bad Angels lineup for dirt cheap ($6,400).

Nathan Eovaldi (Watch Weather)

The Red Sox and Yankees have a HUGE series this weekend and I can easily justify game stacking the pitchers knowing that if they are on they will be trusted to remain in the game.  But the lean goes to Eovaldi who has been better against the Yankees and is the arm I would trust more.

Dylan Cease

The notable thing about Cease is the pitcher on the other side.  Look at that, it’s Shane Bieber who basically opted out of the 2021 season once he caught wind that they would not allow doctoring of baseballs anymore and now he suddenly returns RIGHT AFTER the White Sox just clinched the division.  How perfect timing of Mr. Bieber.  Chicago likely won’t limit Cease just yet but with Rodon’s injury concern the other day I could see him being capped at 90 pitches.  That said, it’s a spot he should pitch really well in.

Kyle Gibson

Ah yes, those damn pesky Pirates are on our radar again to pick on.  Lets see if Gibson can do better than shit face Aaron Nola did last night.  Gibson’s a good value at $7900 in that we know he will give us 85+ pitches and should get a lot of ground balls with this lineup.

San Francisco Giants

The Giants have the Dodgers on their tails and really need to hold them off to win this division and avoid the wild card game.  Peter Lambert will open up things for Colorado, one of my favorite whipping boys to come up over the last year.

  • LaMonte Wade
  • Tommy La Stella
  • Mike Yasztremski

L.A. Dodgers

Speaking of Los Dodgers, they are the next in line team to go into Chase Field and pad on the Roof is Open stats.  Another likely bullpen game for Arizona and the Dodgers are your expensive stack that could go a little under owned tonight due to their prices.

  • Corey Seager
  • Will Smith
  • AJ Pollock

St. Louis Cardinals

Look who is flying high right before October, the Cardinals of course.  You think that they own Milwaukee?  Well, they’re not too shabby Wrigley Field either, and with 19 MPH winds out and Zach Davies on the mound I ask how are we not rostering Nolan Arenado, Paul Goldschmidt and Tommy Edman tonight?  Don’t fear the 7 inning limitation on this one.
