The Dongers Club – Sun, Aug 30th

Alright, we have had enough of these wild Sunday mixed slates by now that there’s no more ranting or excuses for not figuring them out. Of course we have mixed slates today, what you thought we could have consistency a third day in a row?  Nah. Leading off, from Boston, MA it’s DraftKings with a 10 game slate that includes the 7-inning first game of a double-header between the Yankees and Mets.  DraftKings does not have the Diamondbacks/Giants, Rockies/Padres, Angels/Mariners or Orioles/Blue Jays games on their slate. Boo This Man GIFs | Tenor FanDuel on the other hand, has all of those games except the Yankee-Mets game, because who wants to play a 7 inning game obviously?  But, why the other games?  Oh, I won’t even bother.  FanDuel probably is prepping for the next e-drone simulation contest roll out….

WEATHER NOTES

  • No PPD risk due to rain.

Even though neither site has a five figure pitcher on their pool today, this is a DEEP pitching slate and arguably the best one we have had all season — I kid you not.  The challenge though for these arms today is that we of course have day games and warm weather in a lot of spots.

Blake Snell

One spot we don’t have weather is inside of a Dome, and the first of three potential dome closed games is in Miami where Tampa will look to keep the Marlins scoreless again.  Miami hasn’t scored since Wednesday and they haven’t homered since last Monday.  Sounds like someone has a case of the South Beach.  In this case though, I am rolling with the road pitcher on a Sunday in Miami, as Snell continues to build up towards a dominant start and when it’s Sunday,  it’s Snellzilla day.  Miami will score a run finally, but not without striking out a ton as well.

Brandon Woodruff

Pittsburgh rarely wins in Milwaukee and You don’t need me to remind you over and over juts how bad they are against RHP.  Woodruff is only $8,200 on DK so you have no problems fitting him in with Snell today there and he’s a favorable comp on FanDuel as well.

Sandy Alcantara

Strong consideration to just game stacking the pitchers in Tampa/Miami again.  The Rays lineup today is … oof.  Not great.  No Meadows and of course … #SouthBeachTheory

Outside The Box

Luis Castillo

He went far too long in his last start which gives me some concern for him today and Schwarber/Heyward and shit, even Rizzo are all hitting right now.  But Castillo is all about the strikeouts and is in great form right now.  He’s a heavy wild card risk play with Snell and Woodruff being in very good spots today but a nice second lineup pivot.  The whole world is gonna be on Snell I would imagine.

Casey Mize

You can do far worse for his price tag on DraftKings and without Eddie Rosario in this lineup it is only Max Kepler who he should have concerns about today.  When he strikes out Cruz-Sano-Cave in order today you’ll be pissing your pants with joy…  Just beware of the Tigers horrific defense doing him in.

A lot of the hitting that I like today is on the FD slate and not DK

Blue Jays

Cavan Biggio, Teoscar Hernandez

You might be wondering why I am not picking on Roark in Buffalo?  Because as hot as Anthony Santander was a week or two ago that’s how cold he is and can you really mount up the courage to use any other Orioles in this castle stadium?  (that was a hint without saying it …).  Didn’t think so.  So we’re looking at the Jays and specifically the LH bats named Cavan Biggio, Travis Shaw and Mr. Teoscar Hernandez in the clean-up role from the right side.

Angels / Mariners (FD Only)

Shohei Ohtani, Anthony Rendon, JP Crawford, Kyle Lewis

Look for the Angels to continue their whipping of the Seattle Mariners pitching staff with Ohtani and Tony two bags getting in on the action today.    On the flip side, these Mariners can hit Canning, so look at JP Crawford and Kyle Lewis as fine plays.  If Kyle Seager had not checked out mentally a week ago he would be at the top of the list too.

Royals / White Sox

Whit Merrifield, Eloy Jimenez, Jorge Soler, Alex Gordon, Tim Anderson

Let’s cover the easy side first and that’s the Royals.  Whit-Dozier-Soler and a white hot Ryan O’Hearn are pretty much the only players we’ll consider here (ok, Cam Gallagher on DK because Cam 2100 Gallagher is a nice punt).  Out of them I really like Whit and Soler here as Soler has gotten going of late and Sunday Whit probably walks a couple times, swipes a bag or two and winds up with a really good overall score. For Chicago though, it’s tricky.  Bubic can throw some gas but these bats can hammer gas.  You’ll no doubt see Tim Anderson, Eloy Jimenez and Jose Abreu as popular plays but I have been on Yoan Moncada as having his break out today and it sucks that he’s getting Bubic instead of Keller but I’ll stick with Moncada to be the White Sox bat you gotta lock in if you ride this game.  I honestly do not see this being a 14 run game if the Royals aren’t putting up 6 of their own.  Wind is blowing in too.

UPDATE:  Moncada out resting hamstring.

DRAFTKINGS STACKS:

  • Indians:   St. Louis is bound to start hitting but this is just a repeat of Friday night.  Lindor, JRam, Franmil & Goldy.
  • The Nats/Red Sox game is the primary game on DK that will garner focus.  Verdugo, JD and Moreland for Boston — JD Is ice cold, but should have some good AB vs Voth.  For the Nats, it’s a game where they’ll have 2 men on base every single inning against Godley — but only Soto has the profile to take him deep.

CATCHER

Only using catcher on DK today and not paying over $3k for it.

  1. Yan Gomes
  2. Cam Gallagher

FIRST BASE

DK is not a great 1B position today as most of the guys I consider here are on FD.

  1. Brandon Belt – FD
  2. Rowdy Tellez – FD
  3. Jose Abreu – DK/FD
  4. Max Muncy – DK

SECOND BASE

  1. Keston Hiura … Steven Brault’s HR allowed to HH% rates are about to skyrocket.
  2. Cavan Biggio – FD
  3. Jake Cronenworth – FD

THIRD BASE

  1. Manny Machado
  2. Anthony Rendon

SHORTSTOP

I don’t want to hear any complaining when some loser SS like JP Crawford hits 2 homers today.  We’re spending up at this position, it’s too good to mess around.

  1. Tim Anderson
  2. Trea Turner
  3. Francisco Lindor … On a day with Anderson, Turner and Tatis/Story all being the “oh i gotta have this guy” plays, we have Weaky Lindor getting now soft tossing Adam Wainwright in a game where he’ll be about 2.83% owned.  Sure… Why not…  He’s quietly one of the best SS recently and

OUTFIELD – Mt. Rushmore

  1. Juan Soto
  2. Teoscar Hernandez
  3. Shohei Ohtani
  4. Eloy Jimenez

OUTFIELD – Tier 2

  1. Wil Myers
  2. Kyle Schwarber
  3. Mike Yastrzemski
  4. Whit Merrifield

OUTFIELD – Value

  1. Alex Verdugo – FD Value
  2. Domingo Santana
  3. Franmil Ryes – This guy should never be this cheap.  Just annoying.
