Jacksonville and Miami will tangle up tonight and I’m trying to equate what this is like in MLB terms and it just hit me like a ton of bricks. This is the Detroit Tigers and the Pittsburgh Pirates meeting up in a spot where everyone looked at it and said EW, yuck, and then we quickly realized — wait, why are there 37 runs being scored in this series???
Yep, this is a good game for fantasy purposes tonight. The Jaguars are quickly turning into what the Tampa Bay Bucs have been in recent years. A team with a lot of fantasy value on offense despite not a ton of talent to win games as Gardner Minshew is the new Jameis Winston. Someone who will put up 350+ yards, throw a few touchdowns and keep his team close enough to tease you that they could win games only to do something stupid and provide fantasy value to the opposing defense at the end. He has a ton of nice young receivers at his disposal to make him look good and his defense sucks enough that he’ll always be putting up fantasy stats. I completely bashed the guy and still think he is a terrible franchise Quarterback, but he’s got a ton of fantasy value and I gotta turn my blinders off on that.
GAME WINNER BET
Jaguars -2.5
I have to stick to my prediction that the Dolphins aren’t winning a game until Tua steps on the field. The Ryan Fitzpatrick magic has completely worn off and you can’t re-use it multiple years in a row with the same team. That’s how his magic works! He’s going to wind up going to some other random team like, oh, I dunno, the Broncos and put up a magical four win stretch to get them into the playoffs next year and it will be oh man what an amazing Harvard grad he is! Anywho, give me the Jags tonight.
GAME CAPTAIN
Laviska Shenault – WR – Jacksonville Jaguars
You can make a case for Minshew as the captain because there’s a high chance he has to spread it around to various WR in this game, but I expect Chark to draw the tougher coverage assignments so Shenault, who is extremely talented, is the guy that I can see breaking the Showdown slate with 2 receiving touchdowns.
PRIMARY PLAYER POOL
Dolphins
Miami is a very tough team to figure out with three different RB who can all be viable plays. I’m rolling with Breida as my highest owned here because I feel he has the most talent. The top play for the Dolphins though has to be DaVante Parker and/or Mike Gisecki. Fitzmagic may stink but he’ll complete a bunch of passes to those guys.
- Highest Owned/Captain
- DeVante Parker
- Flex Plays
- Matt Breida
- Mike Gisecki
- Dolphins Defense
- Jason Sanders
- FADE
- Ryan Fitzpatrick
Jaguars
It’s hard for me not to want to start with Minshew-Shenault-Chark and then just fill in the rest. Definitely lock in Minshew-Shenault though.
- Highest Owned/Captain
- Laviska Shenault
- Flex Plays
- Gardner Minshew
- Keelan Cole
- D.J. Chark
- FADE
- James Robinson
Final Score prediction: Jaguars 30, Dolphins 19
