The Ambush – Week 13 – Mon/Tue

Welcome to a mishmash of slates ranging from Monday to Tuesday to Thursday to … whatever day of the week it is now?

FanDuel actually has a four game Monday-Thursday slate which includes the game on Tuesday and that should be the primary slate we are writing about here with huge prize pools.  But alas, it is not as it’s the smallest slate out there.  I think there might even be DraftKings Tiers slates which are bigger.  DraftKings has not only no Mon-Thu, their Mon-Tue is a two game slate.  We get College Football slates that include every fucking school known to man on these sites but God forbid we get a pro slate that has enough games to spread out the ownership a little bit.  Then there is SuperDraft, which I have never wrote about before but have had a lot of success with for football lately.  I have some theories on why, but I’ll save those for another time because you are dying for my Washington vs Pittsburgh analysis and we need to roll onto it.

So here are my notes on these games.  I do notes every single week on every single game, they’re sloppy sometimes but they’re my basis for my feelings on each game — then I pick out what I want to write up for the article each week.  So here’s the behind the scenes look…

GAME NOTES

Washington vs Pittsburgh – Monday

  • Early lean is going to be Washington getting upset, but I don’t like game moving back to Monday — long lay off for Washington who will split their next two somehow.
  • Ben’s quick passing negates Washington’s front four.  Have to like the volume for Diontae Johnson.  Prime bounce back spot for him to be the leading receptions target.
  • Chase Claypool catches a bomb down the side and scores.  Would be a good captain pick too.
  • So you have to like Ben some. He’ll throw 2 TD, not sure on third.
  • Washington RB are jumping out at me.  I see McKissic having a huge game on screens/dump offs.
  • That’s most of Washington offense.  Terry isn’t doing shit.
  • Pittsburgh wins 24-16

Buffalo vs San Francisco (in Arizona) – Monday

  • Jordan Reed.  Give me Jordan Reed for San Francisco.
  • This game is much higher scoring than the previous one.
  • Josh Allen will accumulate lots of yards on the ground.  Better back and forth game, so better game to pick a QB from.
  • Jordan Reed and Moestert do most of the damage for San Francisco, but there will be an Aiyuk sighting.  Might be my favorite sneaky captain in this showdown game.
  • Could be on special teams which makes SF defense contrarian on the two gamer and four gamers.
  • If we like a shootout we have to like Diggs to go over 100 yards receiving, I would take the over on his yardage props and Beasley to catch a ton of passes.
  • Not loving anything on the SF ground game.
  • Allen-Diggs or Beasley-Moestert-Reed-Aiyuk.  Wow, I like lots of SF players, but 2 of them do it on the ground (Aiyuk a home run play on a jet play)
  • SF win wouldn’t shock me.  That’s a tough offense to play against if you haven’t seen it — although McDermott should remember it from his NFC South days.  31-27.

Dallas vs Baltimore – Tuesday

  • What a dumpster fire game.  Want the Dez Bryant narrative?  Yay, whatever.
  • Ravens try to get back to what they do.  Lots of ground game with Ingram, Dobbins, Lamar rushing the ball.
  • Players like routines and Tuesday games are not routines.  Especially Tuesday games off Wednesday games.
  • This game just dies.  Dallas has zero time on offense to get anything done.  Amari Cooper has 6 catches for 75 yards, that’s about it.
  • Probably most of it in soft coverage during 2 minute drill.
  • Baltimore wins, low scoring game.  24-6.

New England vs LA Rams – Thursday – Week 14

I am including this game for those who want to spend whatever money they can find on the 4 game FanDuel slate contests and have a nice week long sweat possibly.

  • New England off a big win is staying in California for this game.   The Rams are coming off a big road win in Arizona.
  • Everything would point to New England winning this game.
  • I just don’t see how?  It has to be Damien Harris and James White.  Has to be.  Both should be in showdown lineups.
  • That is the extent of the Patriots you want unless you consider their kicker or defense, but only kicker for my money.
  • Gotta like Cooper Kupp and Josh Reynolds.  Oh!  Hi Van Jefferson, welcome to the party as he catches a 15 yard touchdown.
  • Spread out New England and make quick passes.  Thats the recipe IMO.
  • Can’t love this game much because of the teams.

DFS PLAYS for Monday Only

QB:  Josh Allen, Ben Roethlisberger

  • Allen at $8900 on FD and $7300 on DK might get overlooked.  He needs to rush one in for us to pay it off.

RB:  Raheem Moestert, J.D. McKissic, Benny Snell

  • McKissic best value play on the board.

WR:  Diontae Johnson, Stefon Diggs, Chase Claypool, Cole Beasley, Brandon Aiyuk

  • Diggs is very expensive for DFS, but a good guy to look at for prop bets for over on his yards.
  • Diontae Johnson should lead the slate in receptions.
  • Chase Claypool and Brandon Aiyuk score.

TE:  Jordan Reed

  • Saving money big time here.  Love me some Jordan Reed tonight.

DEF:   Pittsburgh, San Francisco

  • Chasing Special teams TD is dumb, but San Francisco DST is a gut feeling

AMBUSH CORE

  • Josh Allen
  • JD McKissic
  • Chase Claypool
  • Jordan Reed
