Now that CFB is done with (outside of the Natty Championship) I am going to start providing my CBB notes for others who want to follow along. I prefer the college game over the pro game for Basketball, have been casually in a dynasty league with some of the other CBB DFS content and DFS players who I highly respect and am willing to share my plays when I have them. The CBB DFS Dashboard which I have built has gotten some rave reviews and it helps me correlate between what the consensus industry projections are along with my ratings on who the plays should be. But beyond just blindly following the dashboard sometimes we need a quick run down on the plays. This is intended to do that in a quick way.
My default lineup construction for CBB is to stack a game or even stack two games together. When I say a stack though I do not like to use more than 4 players from a game with 2 from each team, and sometimes just 3 total from the game (2&1). A perfect build would be G/F from both sides but in the college game there’s so many teams who play 4 guards that I wouldn’t try to confuse yourself with that as much as maybe looking at not having two guys who are dependent upon assists together on the same build for example.
If you are following the Dashboard, there is a column called “ONIONS”. This is my personal algo which is using various factors to find out the potential upside that a player might have. The more ONIONS! the player has the better he is. Go ahead, make fun of it, but it comes from Bill Raftery’s ONIONS! call when broadcasting. Could be worse, I could be calling it the Dongers Club….

TOP STACKS
Missouri vs Mississpi State
Xavier Pinson stands out at the top of the model as he is coming off a solid game and is way cheaper than he should be. He’s a pretty solid lock tonight to finish around 4x, as is Mark Smith. The benefit this game has is that you can get the higher priced Miss St guys (Stewart, Molinar, Tolu) while getting some mid range Mizzou players.
Florida vs Alabama
Anytime we have Alabama on the slate we are looking at a likely high tempo game. There’s still value on the Florida side with “Eating Good in the Neighborhood” (Appleby) coming in at $4,500. Florida should present some challenges for Alabama so I wouldn’t go heavy on fully stacking this game up to four guys but its a nice 3 man stack with Tre Man, John Petty and one of either Locke, Appleby or Castleton.
UCONN vs Marquette
This is the third and sneaky stack of the night. Most do not look to UCONN games unless its a nice quiet Sunday afternoon slate. However, we are looking at James Bouknight in a pace up game at really low ownership because of his high price tag. I can definitely see him paying off and this should be a closely contested game so maybe we can get some OT bonus if we’re in good graces with the CBB God’s tonight. Isaiah Whaley is in a perceived tough spot but for $6,100 in a higher tempo game he should grab a few more rebounds and to me is a perfect pair with Bouknight.
If you are someone who does multiple lineups, you’ll want to spread out your Marquette exposure to hope you get a ceiling game from the right guy. They have four or five options who could pop off and are all affordable. I’m trusting McEwen to get into a scoring battle with Bouknight.
